@kermar-tutu - Yes 5 minutes (if it helps you sleep at night, think all you will that it was exaggerated), I had the explosive barrel from the start of my session whilst I was treasure hunting, stored away in the crows nest should the opportunity arise to make use of it.
Hours of play later, I saw a Galleon, went to the outpost and laid my trap. Like I've said previously, it didn't work, they sunk my ship and sailed off. Went to the dock moments later to go to the mermaid and low & behold a Sloop was coming in to dock. It was night, heavy rain, so they would of had a hard time spotting the mermaid, I ran back to the spot behind the rock and both came ashore, one with a gun equiped, the other carrying the chest. Boom.
If you have a problem with it, take it up with Rare, maybe they will give you a hug and pet your head, assuring you they'll nerf it.
@Cpt-Peach-Beard - Shame pal, that's why I've only done it when there's a ship(s) around to lure so as to not waste time for nothing.
There's more pressing issues about camping and spawn killing on these forums, go moan in there. Not like I've added insult to injury by further camping and killing the same crew at their ship over & over, I either Skuttle & mermaid or in this instance, mermaided as my ship was already destroyed.
If anything this topic shows, is for people to be aware of what could be lurking at an Outpost. I'm fully aware people will click on to this & be more wary and I don't mind.
There's more than 1 way to have fun in this game.
Edit; Also Kermar, it's not 'my way' to play the game, jeez, I've done it twice on seperate days. I enjoy the PvE aspects more, adventuring and solving clues etc. When I 2 man Sloop with a friend, we also PvE and have battles with any ships we come across, we win some, we lose some, those that are lost don't have me coming here to complain about the game's mechanics.
