Oops, I did it again..

  • So I noticed a Galleon heading to the Outpost, my sloop anchored at the dock, myself ready and camping.

Unfortunately, they sailed along side, sunk my ship and didn't bother to come ashore & sailed off, but who's this coming along to dock moments later, a 2 manned sloop..

His expression at the end lol, no idea what he said, guessing German, but it sounded like misery xD

  • @dn38416 wauw! You are a pro at this! I camp OPs but always wing it like with a sword. I definitely need to get the GP barrels next time!!

  • Pretty sure it was misery. Lamentable way to go. Maurader's chests have a decent amount of coin in them.

  • @dn38416 i hate you and your post now this song is stuck in my head
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CduA0TULnow

    T.T

  • Toxic. With that said, well played.

  • Note to self: check quest-giver area for gunpowder barrels before turning in chests...

    Think it yielded about 500, this one;

    Netted me 900 haha

@Jack-LittleShoe - Apologies, couldn't help it following on from my previous clip ^

I don't make a habit of doing this, if I find a GP Barrel it goes on the crow's nest until the opportunity presents itself with ships nearby the outpost to lure in, I tend to scuttle after so I can continue treasure hunting away from those seeking revenge lol

Haha yeah, the spot I am in (at Galleon's Grave) I think is the only area to hide that has a visual on the tent for me to snipe.

I can see their gamer tags so they should be able to see mine?

Lesson to learn here peeps, check your corners and check for those mermaids and be very wary!

  • You magnificent [Mod edited] you. :)

Funnily enough, I was camping an outpost just today myself. Except I do it so I can serenaded arriving pirates; giving them a soundtrack while they turn in chests.

  • @dn38416 That was so beautiful I don't think I could be mad if it happened to me. Well played

  • Hope I still get to pull it off next stress test (fingers crossed for another) now that people are aware haha

Think next test, now I've had a taste for gold & unlocking the stuff I wanted, I'll focus more on ways to kill with GP barrels haha

  • @DN38416
I hate you for doing it and wish bad things upon you on your journeys.

    ;)

    Lessons learned:

    • Always check for mermaids around Outposts
    • Don't group up around the tent
    • Approach the tent with caution
    • Turn in the cheapest treasure first to minimize your loss

Also, I noticed the first time I did it, the dude from the Galleon (would of been epic if it was all 4 of them) was dilly dallying around the tent before selling, if he'd of gone straight to the tent he might of stood a slight chance of cashing in before his inevitable death xD

Edit; Check for boats! The first time, my boat was at the very dock the Galleon pulled up to, they left the sloop alone and a lone guy headed to the tent with what became mine. So if there's a ship, be wary where that person could be. Second time in the OP, my ship had been sunk, but a mermaid was around, they must of missed it due to the heavy rain or weren't thinking (I always check before dropping anchor), so eye(s) peeled!

  • What do you do when you wait victims?

  • @jack-littleshoe ikr

  • Gooosh amazing idea !!

  • @kermar-tutu said in Oops, I did it again..:

What do you do when you wait victims?

    Go for a smoke xD

I'm not usually waiting that long, I only do it if there's ships nearby and lure em in with my docked ship with the lanterns left on.

Of the 2 times I've done it, waited no more than 5 mins.

  • @dn38416
5 minutes and their crew didn't see you and dared to go to that outpost? you must have been seen you before going to the outpost.
This technique will die soon it's viable only again's beginer's.
and i believe your 5 minute waiting is exagerate.
I Respect your choice to play that way... but there is nothing to be pride of showing it! My best fight i had never been the one i won in 3 minute fight... but the one i won after an hour.

  • I tried this same thing last night but sadly no one ever came to turn in any chests :P

glad to see it would have worked though lol

  • @kermar-tutu - Yes 5 minutes (if it helps you sleep at night, think all you will that it was exaggerated), I had the explosive barrel from the start of my session whilst I was treasure hunting, stored away in the crows nest should the opportunity arise to make use of it.

Hours of play later, I saw a Galleon, went to the outpost and laid my trap. Like I've said previously, it didn't work, they sunk my ship and sailed off. Went to the dock moments later to go to the mermaid and low & behold a Sloop was coming in to dock. It was night, heavy rain, so they would of had a hard time spotting the mermaid, I ran back to the spot behind the rock and both came ashore, one with a gun equiped, the other carrying the chest. Boom.

If you have a problem with it, take it up with Rare, maybe they will give you a hug and pet your head, assuring you they'll nerf it.

@Cpt-Peach-Beard - Shame pal, that's why I've only done it when there's a ship(s) around to lure so as to not waste time for nothing.

There's more pressing issues about camping and spawn killing on these forums, go moan in there. Not like I've added insult to injury by further camping and killing the same crew at their ship over & over, I either Skuttle & mermaid or in this instance, mermaided as my ship was already destroyed.

If anything this topic shows, is for people to be aware of what could be lurking at an Outpost. I'm fully aware people will click on to this & be more wary and I don't mind.

There's more than 1 way to have fun in this game.

Edit; Also Kermar, it's not 'my way' to play the game, jeez, I've done it twice on seperate days. I enjoy the PvE aspects more, adventuring and solving clues etc. When I 2 man Sloop with a friend, we also PvE and have battles with any ships we come across, we win some, we lose some, those that are lost don't have me coming here to complain about the game's mechanics.

  • Fine pirating me lad!
OP never apologies for what you just did! I might had that we should be praising ye!
Look at those two, no one actually scouted the island!
I mean they pretty much were like rabbits at a shooting range xD
If it helps ye sleep at night know that I did far worse :D

That is yer perspective, but yer way of playing with "HONOR" might get ye to fly through the sky well like an' old friend of mine did! He was always bragging about honor and respect YO HO HO HO HO. These won't matter once yer dead and ye loot has been stolen!
We be only held to abide by the CODE AYE!!! Nothing about stealing treasure and killing other thieves be in the CODE.

Thank ye! I mean I've been at the receiving end of a ship with 3 barrels on the bow ramming us, killing me & a friend and sinking the ship, don't see me complaining, fair play to them, I'm more ashamed of not having thought about it first.

I've then tried a barrel on the front and as we were heading in to ram their side, they cannoned the barrel, sinking our ship, again, fair play to them.

I can only dread to think what you've been up to haha.

My other clip doing it, with only one guy from a Galleon, he was a little more wary, he had a little look around the tent before turning in.

  • You can chain those explosions if you get a bunch of barrels around the outpost... It's EPIC! I did it on accident and then spent like 2 hours collecting GP barrels and planting them.

  • @dn38416 Remember my one motto, never go aboard another ship without looting something! Treasure sure, but bananas, planks etc be fine too YAR!

    1. get treasure aboard another crew's ship, and throw it overboard. Stealth like hell until the treasure is far in the sea and ye can reveal yerself and tell them what you did :D
    2. The usual spawn camping aboard a ship is always fun.
    3. Take treasure from yer crew and repeat 1! Why would ye do this ? Well maybe ye crew did a number 4 on ye wasting ye treasure, so ye might wanna teach them a lesson at yer own expense for it'll be a lesson well learnt! Crew be sacred but it doesn't mean we cant mess about with one another.
    4. Leave ye crew behind with their chest on a forsaken island. (was done to me many times wasting me time but hell I can't complain).
    5. To get and mess about with another crew that has many chests ye can grab one and put it far away in water. Wait for one guy to go get it. Board ship kill the rest of the crew. Dance on their ship watching the guy who went for the chest getting eaten by shark.

    Noted, cheers matey!

It's got abit tedious PvE'ing on test servers now, not that I don't enjoy it (I'd say I've done 80% PvE, 20% PvP over the past 2 tests) it'll be my main focus on release. Just that doing PvE grind every test, then having to start over on release, I'm going to try being more creative with the GP barrels should there be another test/beta weekend.

Hahaaaarr @ number 3. Messing with crew, I watched PotC At World's End after last nights session, makes me laugh at the end when Sparrow lets his first mate throw his hat then tells him to go and get his hat xD

Lol number 1. "Wait.. wait! Before you send me to Davy Jone's Locker, where be your treasure mateys?.." xD

Just had an idea for a trap, dunno if I should reveal.. It involves stacking to conceal the "birthday cake" as I've heard it been referred as.

I don't condone number 2 haha, but I've been guilty with a friend of doing it to a Galleon, they sunk us but we respawned in the sea before it fully sank. We noticed all their crew in the water looking for loot, so we commandeered their vessel, upped anchor and headed for the red sea whilst killing them as they respawned & sunk their ship xD

  • @dn38416 Hehe, I only ever do number 2 if they attack first, and continue attacking after "contact" was made and they aren't friendly. Teaching them a lesson one might say.

  • @dn38416 Don't worry man i sleep very well at night!, and I never run into a trap of campers without notice it before... as I said that part of the gameplay. But let me be clear! so u try to get a galleon and he notice you, sunk you and later a sloop arrive (All this) in 5 minutes times? I think you not calculate your fails times in your post that why 5 minute fell exagerating...
And what make me p**s a bit wasn't this post actualy... but the one you post about how much worth chestS!... as you said you got a 960 gold and to prove it, ( as it was necessary to prove it, Nobody ask you to prove it! ), you chose to make a link of your beautifull camp kill!! So much than we actualy not remember your point showing the worth of the chest but you showing off about camping and kill noob who doesn't even run to the tent properly.
It's like if; "I", pride off showing a kill of a solo sloop new players with my well organise galleon of 500 hours plus players...
I won't cry to Rare, it's fine for me, It more your way to be pride to stab some one on the back!
Dam i will love spam killing you at the mermaid, with my full crew stand next to her, if i find you camp at the outpost!. And i will post a video of my glory spam killing! it's still fine with Rare ATM! ;D

PS: This barrel tricks is use since long time in that game, since the barrel exist, this idee not coming from u! ( i know you did say it was but it fell like kind of!). And it doesn't need any skill to do it. So i don't see the reason to be pride of it that much for post it in different posts who isn't concerning camp killing.
But it's actualy a good thing about showing to people this trick,
like a magician tell every one how it work. and good way to get revenge again campers, as it deserve it, Is to spam killing the camper at the mermaid after killing him! and post the video of the glory kill it is. If that was your reason of showing it, then im glad you did!! :D

  • I shouldn't say but lol I still did this too:

Using barrels I prevented my crew from putting the chest on the ship. Just have a few 3/4 GP and leave them on top of ladders or nearby (captain's cabin is a good spot, and inbetween canons). Have 3 or 4 to have at least ONE warning shot.

if they shoot barrel they sink the ship and lose chest. If they come up, shoot barrel and kill them, and sink the ship. Remember to leave one barrel of powder next to the brig. xD You know why if you feel me xD
This is a terrible thing to do to yer crew, but like RP wise it's MIGHTY!

I am sharing this to only show the massive possibilities we can come up with using this sandbox game! Judge it evil or not, fact is: if I can do it, I'll probably do it. If I can't do it then I'll find a way to do the next thing closest to rendering what I originally wanted to do. Using the tools at hand.
    That's what sandbox means.

  • @kermar-tutu - 5 minutes isn't to be taken too literal, it wasn't extactly 5 mins, 0 seconds, could have been 4 mins could have been 7-8 mins. What I'm really trying to get across, is that I wasn't sat there purposefully waiting for 15, 20, 30 mins just for a cheap kill. I wasn't waiting long as I knew the opportunity to set the booty trap was on the horizon. Probably a few mins for the Galleon to turn up, sink ship and sail off then a minute or 2 later the Sloop turned up and it's crew met their demise. Again, don't take the times literally, I didn't exactly rush to grab a stop watch, I just wasn't waiting long.

Chest price is an irrelevant point to be annoyed with matey, I'm not to know what chest they are carrying (my focus is on the barrel in the tent) nor how much I'll get for selling it.

We all have fun in our own ways & I'm showing a clip of when I had my fun, also showing people what to look out for. Go comment on youtubers making money out of views, sponsers, adverts etc for posting videos on their kills, I've seen barrel kills on there, I don't moan about it though. I take inspiration.

You can try spam killing me, but the chances of us ever meeting are very slim & I avoid combat mostly to enjoy adventuring, if someone kills me, the tools are in game for me to avoid giving any potential spawn killer the satisfaction, so please be my guest. I won't lose sleep over it, it's just a game.

  • Perfection!

in the post of chest price... not this post, was clearly showing off! ... but it's just a trap... and people who got fun of stab in the back. If it's fun for you as it is for others, i say have fun doing easy kill is personal. You like to share it as youtubers. i don't care it's still a cheap kill you got there. Just saying in not gonna tell you GG for that! that it. as you could have guess you get this kind of post too ! no? people olso make money doing wrong thing. And money doesn't justify good and fair did. Anyway i believe camping in outpost don't have a big futur in this game.
