I think it would be fun to be able to grapple a ship and pull the ships together!
Please add Grappling hooks!
I'm not sure how I feel about this for ship utility, but I kind of like the idea of using it personally. The ability to hang or swing from some kind of reusable hook/rope equipment would be a lot of fun, particularly when exploring islands. If it ended up being too unreasonable or unbalanced, maybe it could replace a weapon slot to create some interesting choices and trade-offs for the player.
I have no idea how feasible that is in this engine, though.

You can do this with the anchor... We do it all the time to broadside people.
We also don't need a grapple hook weapon, just a grapple hook "ammo" for the cannons so you can load one in a cannon and then if you hit the ship it would hook you to it and give you an option on the rope like raising / lowering a sail where you can press W or S to pull in the hook or let out more rope.
I would love to see the ability to get near enough to another ship to launch two hooks at it and then reel it in so you are locked side-by-side to jump from ship to ship while you duke it out with swords and guns battling for each others loot. I also like the idea of attacking the rope to cut the hook loose.

Would be much more piratey than shooting ourselves out of cannons... I still think that was spontaneous addition so they had a new feature for that E3... it ruins ship combat as most people are to oblivious to guard their ladders, are we circus clowns or are we pirates? REMOVE MAN CANNONS and GIVE US ROPES/HARPOONS/GRAPPLING HOOKS!!!!

@ironuzuka the catch of another ships yardarm with it would be cool but it would need a cooldown timer while the rope either reels in or in the cAse of a harpoon fun you would need to tie the end you have to something and then reload. No just cause grappling lol. That’s not what I’m suggesting. A SoT style one can and should be done imo.
