Grey Screen

  • Hello. I played last weekend 16-18th I think it was, and this weekend I get the grey screen for about 1 second and then it just disappeares. I have tried every single thing possible out there on the forum and google. Reinstalling Xbox hub, reinstalling the game, changing language, region, account to local, appx package etc does not work. Would be really cool with some help.

  • @cogaligus Okay guys, thanks for the amazing input to my question. After going hackerman 1337 mode all night I finally got it going this morning, dont ask me how because I have no idea which did the trick. I'm probably going to get the screen back next time I restart it but [Mod edited for language] it all man I'M IN LETS DRINK SOME RUM AND PLUNDER SOME CHESTS!

  • @cogaligus Ahoy there, I'm sorry you experienced this problem. In the past when it has happened to me, I've changed my PC login to my Microsoft account rather than a local one and it solved the issue.

    I hope that you've raised a ticket with Support so Rare are aware the issue needs to be addressed.

  • @katttruewalker Troubleshooter on Microsoft Store says a problem is Microsoft Account is needed (ironic, ik) When I'm clearly logged in everywhere. When trying to switch to a local account it doesn't seem possible since when I try to do so it already claims I am on it, and when I create a new I get an error. So in the light of things I should technically be online on my microsoft account. I dont want to waste another 8 hours of my day digging in reged because of this xbox mess..

  • @katttruewalker No I am already on my Microsoft Account. When I do the troubleshooter it even ends me off to the microsoft homepage ONLINE on my Microsoft account

    Here are the two errors I keep getting, left is microsoft account needed. I got these two yesterday but somehow managed to fix them. I don't think I should need an IT-Engineer degree to get my game to start

  • @cogaligus The image mentions something about the services, can you check if the services of solution 4 of this link are active?

    IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules
    IP Helper
    Xbox Live Auth Manager
    Xbox Live Networking Service

    It is very likely that they have another name in their language. The second in Spanish only had "IP" in common (the rest of the name was nothing like the literal translation).

    If it does not help, then I can only recommend that you contact the support as Katt Truewalker said.

  • @cogaligus After being in contact with microsoft support for 3 hours (talking to 3 different people in 3 different departments) I have come to the conclusion that they will not help me, so I guess I won't be buying this game. Sad, it was really fun.

  • Hello fellow Pirates. I jsut wanted to come here and say that i had the same issue on my Laptop but it worked fine on my desktop computer. I scoured through so many threads and tried all the possible solutions found all over the threads i looked at while googling for a possible solution and i was about to give up when i thought i would try one last thing, one last resort.

    I ended up find out that what worked for me was "reset this PC" and i chose "Keep all files". I only had to reinstall Sea of thieves and a few other programs but to me it was worth the try. Sure enough it worked like a charm. I did initially get the grey screen and my heart sank but then it continued to load into the game.

    Hope it works as it was the last thing i was going to try before giving up!

  • I have tried every trouble shooting tip they provided, contacted MS and worked with them, installed the game several times, reset windows and absolutely nothing works. I can't launch the game, just that grey screen. All other apps and games from the MS store work, so it is clearly not an issue with my system or the store. Kinda frustrating. Raised a ticket, but last time I submitted a ticket I received a form response and I am a little concerned the response to this will be to send that trouble shooting guide.
