I'd love to see a name crest on the back of ships in addition to the one above the captains quarters, so other people could see what your ship is called.

@ch3wiie I know of the plaque above the Captain's Quarters I stated that already, I just think it would be cool to have another one on the back of the ship so other people can see what your ship's name is.

@getschmiton Not only that but Rare should also tie this together with the voyage system.
What I mean by that: Imagine you see a galleon from the distance and you look at it thru your spyglass. The upper and lower edges of your screen tighten up (like when you're close to an island and its name pops up) and you can see the name of the ship on the lower end of your screen.

I still think having the name plaque on this ship would still give it a personal touch to it. And you know that there will be copycats trying to impersonate the more famous people once they reach the legendary status. But I do believe that Rare has something planned to make it quite difficult to reach the legendary status, so we may not see that many "copies" of ships/pirates.
@y0ujerk And if it is a legendary crew, perhaps the edges of your screen have fancy golden outliers or something.
Not only would you see the ship name but you would also know, if they're legends and therefore experienced.
Loving these ideas guys! I think @CNT-Thelrox 's idea is amazing, would love to see that in the final game.
@cnt-thelrox Excellent idea! You should definitely make your own post talking about this so it's more likely Rare + other players see it and get on board.
@getschmiton I am Hoping that they put them on the back also, makes for good gameplay, then you know if its a certain ship what to expect from them based off previous encounters ect.. good idea!
I completely agree, all ships no matter how small have a name.
In history, the names of ships have carried on in infamy and are just as famous as their pirate captains.
Having a plague at the back and on the sides of the vessel would be a great addition to the game and hope that they implement this.The ship is the Captain & Crew's home, their love, without it they are just 'Landlubbers'. It should have a name & proudly displayed on the vessel.
This is my ship. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
@two-toes-malone Agreed. Naming of ships seems like it should have been in on day one. When you load up your crew you should be presented with a field to name your ship. How else am I going to tell if that galleon I see after I've been killed and respawned is the same one that just sunk my ship? A name on the rear of the ship would help out a lot. Plus, everyone knows it's bad luck to sail a ship without a name!
I am almost dreading the day that my buddy gathers enough coin for a new sail. He hasnt spent one gold yet because he wants that damnable sail.
Will it look cool? Yes. Will it make us an easily identifiable target for every crew with bloodlust in their eyes behind the looking glass? DEFINATELY.
Just remember that the more identifiable you are the bigger the target is on your back.
All in all though it is an Awesome idea and i do hope to see it but it should have to be voted on like you do with voyages.
@rabid67 I think you should be identifiable. I think at the start of the game we should have to name our ship. Each of us having a unique name that would be identifiable in game by having the name on the ship. I think that would help to build reputation and make people think twice about attacking since their ship could easily be identified, either in game or on forums, etc. The infamous Captain Rapid67 and his pirate ship The Golden Demon!!
I agree that it would be cool. But i wouldnt want it to be mandatory. It could be put to a vote at the beginning or re-voted on at any time.
To each their own. Id rather stay incognito as to avoid the more murderous pirates lol
