PLS we need more than 2 weapon slots...!!!!!!

  • @architect-48 Oh yeah, so boring and lame having two weapon slots. You're right, we should have nine. One for a knife, pistol, shotgun, assault rifle, heavy machine gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, flame thrower and a sniper rifle. And a backpack to carry extra magazines for those weapons, plus special ammo variants that do extra damage. Every player in the game should be a walking armory.

  • I agree. It should be 2 Guns and Sword as the default. Not everyone plays in groups and the guns only hold about 5 shots. 1 gun and a sword isn't enough.

  • 2 is fine. I can cycle through all 4 weapons and kill a full crew on my own on a PC. I think 2 is like a PC nerf so that xbox has an advantage. I just wish there was more than 5 bullets per gun.

  • @naoshadowpaws we did not say give us crazy thing just a litle more fire power and trust me iam capable of using the cutlass and the guns in this game thats is not my problem

  • I think allows for team to think more tactically, out who will hold what weapon. Yes indeed more difficult but definitely adds a new element to crew design.

  • @haristain If the two weapons do not change... they would have to increase the amount of ammunition and greatly improve the sword fight.

  • @quietrobot yeah you are right i can this working out

@barnabas-seadog I whole heartedly agree. The simplicity of this game is what makes it fun! 2 weapons really makes you plan your voyages onto islands by making you put your thinking cap on and considering the risk in weapon selection! If everyone ran around with a sniper, blunder, pistol, and sword; where would the encounter variety be? Rare knows what they're doing and I think the community needs to stop trying to insist on how they should design their game. Instead, the community should help by notifying Rare on bugs, glitches, and broken game mechanics. If you don't like what Rare is doing, then don't play this game. Or don't take on forts solo.

The community has every right in expressing their own ideas, just as you're welcomed to disagree with those said ideas. What is not welcomed nor encouraged is to force your own beliefs on others, or to suggest that the community needs to follow a set of rules or beliefs. Yes, Rare knows what they are doing, which is why they added these things into the test instead of adding them to the full game and telling us that it will be added. They want us to discuss the topic and see our reaction and ideas (I'm sure they read the forums frequently).

  • @naoshadowpaws not what I am saying at all. Just saying 2 is lame cuz sword is a must, 3 would just be better. I really don’t think people like you have any ground in reality.

  • Pistol and sword plus 1 weapon of yer choice has my vote...

  • I think it would be awesome to carry 2 pistols instead of a Blunderbuss / Sniper - the Pistol seems a little bit to weak compared to the other guns, so carrying two of them would be great

  • I would be fine with always having a sword and allowing for 2 guns. So 3 weapons in total. 2 guns and a sword for when you're out of ammo since our ship is currently the only ammo source (and other ships as well but only ships).

  • I'd prefer to just see more crates of ammo on the larger island's. I have seen a few island's have them. But if they added them to more of the large island's I think it would be perfect as is. 2 gun slots makessense as 99% of pirate images show them with a sword and a Clinton pistol only. If anything is say if you use the larger weapons, it should replace the sword solely. As they sniper and the blunderbuss are both very powerful weapons as is.

    @haristain

I kinda liked the 2 weapon slot. It brings out the swordfights.

But on the other side... we cant do simular to what Blackbeard did.

He had 6 pistols on his chest. If to ever implement that ingame id make it a spesific vest you had to buy and once a gun is fired, its automatically thrown away and to reload you have to do it on a chest in your ship or store and it takes time.

And lets say the accuracy isnt too great either. Dont make it OP is what im saying. I believe this is doable.

Though this raises a good point, there was a BIG reason why black beard (and what many other pirates) brought multiple loaded flintlocks into battle. It took anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute to load them!

Sea of thieves doesn't have this problem, in fact the loading speed is ridiculous when compared to real life muzzleloaders. Though it's clear they did this for gameplay reasons, and really it's perfectly acceptable in a game where firing each other out of cannons is the safest means of getting yourself deep inland. This basically renders the need to have more than one-two guns at a time totally void.

We don't need more then two. What we need is the skeletons that have weapons to drop ammo. Then it will balance up as the ship already has an ammo restock place.

This right here is what we need in regards to the ammo deficiency. I hardly believe the skellys bullet pouch gets disintegrated when they are killed

  • I agree 3 slots would be perfect! Here me out, sword and pistol are automatic then the 3rd would be a choice of what you bought. It’s stupid to just have a sword and a pistol. I noticed the NPC have been harder to kill and they should but I don’t want to run back and forth to the boat to load up on ammo. If you’re going to keep two up the bullet count.

  • @uber-knight72 soninhot a couple of forts and noticed there is a bullet box to replenish your bullet count. That was nice. I do agree with the skellies dropping ammo. That would be a nice add

  • i think you should be able to hold Y (XBOX) and it bring up a radial menu just like with the maps and gear.

  • As some others have said, I also think that 3 wouldn't be unreasonable if they were effectively limited to 1 slot being melee, 1 slot for a flintlock, the final slot being unlocked for the players choice (blunderbuss, eye of reach, whatever else they might add).

  • @haristain no we don't

  • I think Rare went with two weapon slots because of the Xbox controller and cross-play. Hypothetically if there were 3 slots, PC players will be able to bring out the right weapon faster than a player with controller with the same loadout, because PC have weapon hotkeys on the number row and mouse-wheel while the player with the controller will need to cycle through all the weapons linearly to get the same weapon out. Going with two weapon slots removes the advantage and makes the PvP more fair in regard to platform.

  • i think it's balanced for the PvP aspect of the game, your shots count (don't waste them). and you have to make a choice, double gun and no sword? or take the one weapon that doesn't run out of ammo and choose the gun you think will best fit the situation.

it can be a bit rough when you're solo facing those waves and waves of skellies (mythical skull bounty) and end up against several waves of skellies with guns but you can banana spam and kite around the environment to still come out on top or retreat to your ship and blast them with a cannon.

my only complaint would be that if i select a loadout and die it would be great if that loadout preference were saved, though it's not a big deal either.

  • I'm also fine with the 2 weapons, so you have to make some choices and get more diversity.
What I'd like to see would be a ammo-box you could take on the islands for longer fights. Because I did some of the bottle-bountyquests and there are lots of skeletons to fight, making the 5 shots very few for such fights.
So it would be nice to be able to restock the shots during the fight somehow.
Or If a ammo-box wouldn't work out due to balancing, maybe the skeletons could have a chance to drop some shots?

Or maybe I'm a little bit mistaken and the guns are in bigger pve fights only ment to ignite the blackpowderbarrels. Then of course it can stay how it is.

  • All these comments about encouraging the worst part of combat - sword play. LOL. Deal with it, this game has THE WORST sword fighting in any game. Even Rust does it better and Rust doesn't even try.

SoT sword combat in a nutshell - first to spam, wins.

  • 2 slots is perfect
    Its like class:

    • range (with Sniper rifle)
    • Midle (with Pistol)
    • Melee (With shotgun)
      :)
  • @Arcangelo87 makes a really cool suggesiton, an ammo crate you can carry with you. It could be enough of a burden to lift and drop tha you can't afford to take it everywhere, but anywhere there's a stand off you could plonk it down and have maybe 20-30 rounds in it.

I rememer in Far Cry two that had a system where you could use a spy glass to scout a camp before attacking it. Any medikits, ammo boxes or explosives could be marked and would show up on your map. I didn't really work because medikit were common, ammo was everywhere and explosives were too, usually.

But Sea of Thieves could do a similar thing, without the mapping element. Just spy out a fort or island and look for what areas look like they might be 'checkpoints' that you can head towards, containing ammo.

  • I think 2 weapons is fine. I feel like there should be ammo boxes in the forts instead.

  • @dragotech123
There are ammo boxes at the Forts.

  • @thor-von-blitz Then it is fine as it is now.

  • @tolkien2 If you want a game with realism go play Arma III or a simulator. I want to not die multiple times while trying to take a skeleton bounty because I ran out of ammo and the skeletons that keep spawning have ranged weapons.

  • Two is perfect man. For forts there are many ammo boxes scattered throughout. I like the sword plus blunder combo
