Bug - Full screen fps limited to 60

  • So I've found that I'm stuck on 60 fps when on full screen. I haven't got it limited in the settings in anyway and I've experimented with the graphics settings rare, legendary etc. The only thing that changes the fps is changing it to windowed mode or lowering the resolution. Has anyone else encountered this?

  • @fondestearth491 it also lags at 60fps

  • @fondestearth491 Very basic question but have you tried turning Vsync off?

Mine was also locked at 60 when I played the game on Mythical settings but lowering them increased my fps in my case.

  • @atreusvans Yes vsync is off and limited fps is off. I've tried all the graphical settings from mystical to the lowest one. They all stay at 60 fps.

  • Hi,

I speak a little bit english, sorry if isn't good :)

I have the same problème and worse ...
    -my settings : legendary
    -my computer : cpu; Ryzen 5 1600x, gpu ; 1060 6Go, 16Go RAM

With full screen i m stuck on 60fps too and sometimes, i have thearing 60fps to 30fps, with some islands like oupost, some big ilsands and worse if it's night with light torch.

I have experimented with the graphics settings rare too, and the only thing that changes the fps is windowed mode too ... then i m not more stuck at 60 fps and i have not more thearing ...

I have experimented with nvidiaboard Vsync try with all mode and power supply too ...

I play with a friend, he has no probleme, he isn't stuck at 60fps with nvdia 980ti...

i need too a solution, if someone can help, thx

PS; really sorry for my bad english :( i do my best lol

  • @fondestearth491 Thanks for raising, and you'll be glad to know that we are actively working on vsync not working correctly at the moment. Do you play at a 4k resolution by any chance?

  • What's this issue resolve?

  • This is not a bug! Sea of thieves takes the native settings of your graphics card. For change it must go, for Nvidia, in the configuration panel Nvidia, then go to "Change the resolution" and change your refresh rate.
    Good fun :)

  • Any answer on this? This is still going on...

  • I doubt it is game related. Check in graphic options on PC.
    I am using GTX1060, i5 6500 and 16bg ddr3 and getting 90-100 fps on legendary.

  • i have the same problem! v sync frame limiter off.. monitors refresh rate is 144.. with fullscreen i get stucked at 60 fps.. sometimes at 30.. if i go windowed im getting like 120-130 fps... if i change the resolution from 1080p at fullscreen and make it 900p my fps are also at 120-130... dunno what is the problem! i guess its a bug..

  • Same issue. All Vsync is off (in game and desktop), desktop set to 144hz, limit in game is set to 144. Windowed frames are fine and lower resolution frames go up (still lock though. 1080p60, 900p90, 720p120. weird. ) Would play on lower resolution or windowed mode or even 60 fps if monitor wasnt laggy due to 144hz. really need a resolve on this.

  • Same issue here. I think it might be connected to the game trying to grab the resolution and refresh rate from my secondary 1080p 60hz monitor, and not my primary 2k 144hz.

  • I'm pretty sure I've found the "solution": Declone your monitors.

I have my screens duplicated because that's how I capture my footage on a two PC setup. Had the EXACT same issues as described by many above. Once I decloned my monitors, buttery smooth 100+ FPS in fullscreen mode. Mind you, this has been a bug since the closed betas. Not sure how or why it hasn't been addressed for this long.

  • @fondestearth491 Go into your graphics cards control panel, go to the resolution screen and set your refresh rate to the max there first.

  • Try lowering your resolution scaling in the graphics options. Doesn't change much on my 4k monitor but might at lower resolutions, for some reason the frame rate is scaled to your resolution in some way. Anyway, I can play at max settings 60 fps now so...
