I am going to say outright that the spawning system for pvp in this game needs a total rework. I have sunk ships on a island we had chests on. there mermaid shows up after we sink there ship they never go get a new ship they only go and attack us over and over after both sides dieing well over 100 times they finally sink our ship while they themselves have not had a ship for over a half hour now both of us are shipless and no one can get loot why are people allowed to respawn infinity where there ship died it is r******d
i recommend when a crew died and there ship is destroyed they they spawn at a different island or outpost not infinity spawn in front of a mermaid on the beach where there ship died. if they don't fix this by release in some manner where enemy does not infinity spawn on your island after being defeated then i'm going to request a refund.
Spawn system
@lc475 If there ship is destroyed I disagree I think ones they die while there ship is destroyed they should be teleported somewhere else
I TOTALY agree!
me and my Crew where in a firefight and after a long and hard fight, managed to sink their s**t and kill them all off!
they just kept coming and at some point, they got on the ship and exploded it from the inside.... this is IMO game breaking! and should be fixed right away!
when your ship goes down! It's GAME OVER FOR UR CREW! I'm fine with the respawns while your ship is still alive, but NOT a second after your ship goes down!
this is a HUGE thing in a PVP mind game. would hate to see this be a thing in the full game!@eddiecccc I concur, I think it should be these conditions for spawn mechanics
-spawn on boat until the boat is fully submerged
-when the boat is fully submerged everyone who spawns, past some metric of sinking, will be spawned at the new boat
I believe this would be beneficial to the community as a whole. less skilled players wouldn’t get griefed after battles as much; and now being alive after your ship is gone means this is your one chance, so don’t choke :-\
@lc475 Completely disagreed about enemies spawning their ship close for revenge. This creates a perpetual loop where they can continuously throw their fresh ship at your over and over again and you will never have time to cash in chests or get more supplies. Ship respawns should occur at the furthest possible point in the map.
@eddiecccc I googled this issue to see if rare realized how dumb this was?!?! There was no reason for a crew to be able to spawn where they died with unlimited lives, there is no incentive to PvP with a terrible spawn system like that.
@inbred-chimera. I honestly thought
this was a game breaker when we experienced it, we thoyght after a hard fought battle we could safely loot our plunder ....30 minutes later they are still spawning with no boat , I was shocked thought it must of been a glitch, can't believe this is by design@eddiecccc I'm posting this everywhere that's worried about it, so that it might get picked up as an solution.
I've had a few ideas on this and what I think would work and make for more a tactical game is to use a system like this.
-
At an Outpost you are able to buy Spawns, (I saw someone call them souls and I like that)
-
This allows for more gold to be used for more then making things look pretty.
-
All so allows the game to have a risk to reward for combat.
-
Once on a ship and say someone falls overboard, the merman is free and encourages little to no team work on going back for the player overboard. So now if someone wants to use the merman it's going to cost them a soul, do you risk a respawn for later for ease or do you turn around and look for your player?
-
In combat and you get killed you now only have as many souls as you have saved up, once out of souls your ship is gone and the other team has a bit of time to collect their spoils.
And if you are all out of souls then you respawn back at a new ship somewhere safe,
If you happen to fall overboard and not have souls then you should have the option to spawn close to the ship or back at a new ship.I'm sure people will like the easy free option to the spawning in, but their is a lot of players that would like to add some risk to the combat that only a limited respwan system offers.

I have to agree that one of the awards for defeating an enemy is....they are gone. Now you have the opportunity to search for treasure, etc. My feeling is the respawn should be back to a port where they can then have a new ship. This, to me, would be far more realistic and fair. I don’t have an issue with having a crew member who is killed respawn to an “existing “ enemy ship. If their ship is sunk, however, they only remain in the area when alive. Once a member has met a mermaid or respawned back to a port and has a new ship they can return to pick up members of the crew who are still alive, or just to seek revenge.
You guys that had a situation like this are better to express how you felt!
But this is what it ment to be. Pvp is the main nature of this game within a pirate sea world. I bet thay always spawned near of mermaid so you should keep your eyes on it. Staying on board gives you an advantege fight and protect the loot is hard but thats what have to be done. Not a easy work. I thing you had a real fun gameplay with all this action. Fought hard sunk and got sunk. That was nice bro. Your crew felt ehat is to be in the sea of thieves. Hard place to survive.@d3ath-j3st3r-13 It sure is on the radar but might not get tweaked until after launch...

Hi there @joeninetee
Thanks for the update, i really appreciate it. Is nice to have a "taste" of what is going on in the Rare studios.
I will like to point out just one concern:
I'm following the forum from some weeks now and something that all the players are keep asking from the closed beta on is to give some love to the respawn system. I'm a little bit surprised that you didn't mention on your post that someone was looking into it.
Don't take me wrong, i love the game and i have faith in Rare, but i really think that the spawn system should be a priority right now. Thanks again for all, keep up the good work.
Regarding the respawn system; this is definitely on our list of top feedback points. We are looking at what short-term solutions there could be for launch, but it might well be that this is one of the top issues we address directly after launch. We're currently flying towards launch with a number of features the team are focusing on, and we have to balance the risk of adding something else to that list. This situation alters day-by-day, so we'll see what we can do!
@musicmee Wow... seems to be skimping on directly addressing the problem. The game might not have any coding flaws, but if it launches with a design flaw such as this it shooting itself in the foot right off the bat.
All those many players giving it a look who don't bother with the forums and the developer diaries n that, they're going to realise the respawning is trash, assume the whole game is trash, and never go back to it.
My god I hope the rectify it for launch.
@musicmee I am glad to see the devs see the problem.
most people on this forum have lost track about what i am talking about
endless infinite respawn on a beach for infinite fight was not intended for design of the game and the devs did not take into account the fact that people would get salty about there lose never use the mermaid and have endless fighting. but i am sure its a'lot more programming to make it so when ship sinks you auto respawn new ship somewhere else.a'lot of people say its pvp game deal with it without seeing the actually point i'm trying to make. i love the pvp in this game is great brings back memories of pirates of carribine online. i'm saying that it needs a small tweak so everyone's get good argument. and deal with it its pvp did not even read my post of any slimier post before posting on the forum
i appalid the devs for there hard work the game looks amazing i hope there community manager looks at the forums and reports all feedback. because if they listened to the cries of the community in the future this game can be amazing and it looks like there already doing this
The spawn system is one of two things i think is totally broke with this game.
Now i dont mind people getting to respawn a couple times in order to get back thier ship or thier loot or whatever and this helps even the playing field for solo players.
But after a few times its just dumb and only encouraged revenge griefing. I mean anyone is going to want to get the guy who just beat them so we are all not immune so its going to be a thorn in this game till its fixed.
Players should be charged a % of thier gold each respawn after 2 times and they should spawn on opposite side of map because the map is small and this will not be a huge disadvantage to keep questing.Agree, this surprised the first time it happened as you expect once their ship is sunk they would be forced to spawn somewhere else. Once the ship is sunk that should be it for respawning in the same location. They should be spawned on the other side of the map. It totally defeats the purpose of sinking the ship if they can just keep attacking without one.
My crew just had this complaint. We did a few voyages, sunk a couple ships, and had a really good haul. On our way back to an outpost, this other galleon shows up and starts a fight. A lot of good maneuvering from both sides, good cannon aim, it was a great time. If they had sunk us and made off with our stuff, I would have been fine because that's the game. Instead we sunk them as we neared an outpost, but then they spawned close by and just hit us again while we were trying to bring up the loot from their ship. Sunk them again, and sure enough they were back, each time with a freshly restocked ship while we were out of cannon balls. They ended up making off with a decent portion of our loot because we had nothing to fight back with.
Once a ship sinks and the crew dies, that should be the end of the encounter. The spawn point should be the other end of the map.

Quoted for truth
50% of forum threads are about this stupid ship respawn. Infinite battles, harassment, and annoying experience. I mentioned my idea in this thread https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/40294/respawn-assault-idea
I think "server transfer" would be great idea, to isolate winners from loosers.
