@the-lion-turtle I realized this but I'm still a little annoyed at the fact that something so obvious to a pirate game like opening chests won't be in it.
Oh well...
@fantus - I'm hoping we get rare quests that allow us to open the chest at the end of it. It'll be a one use only that you'll find during your voyage and has to be used on the chest at the end of the quest.
@tartansnake-8 I was more leaning towards being able to always open the chests, but have a chance at the stuff you get out of those chests being of either more or less value then if you were to hand it in (making it a risky route where as the gold hoarders could be the reliable one).
But yeah, anything to add another layer to the game could really help.
@fantus The reason as i understood was to elminate the chance of griefers to open the chest, stealing the content and disconnect...
@incentio I'd assume the chests just contain the small treasure artifacts that you can currently find on the beach's in the scale test.
@fantus - As Incentio said, people would be able to steal your treasure easier. I've managed to board many ships unnoticed and steal their loot, picking the most valuable and slipping away. If I could just open them I'd steal it all. This could also encourage PvP as once you've stolen all the booty you could then turn on the crew. If I'm stealing a chest I don't have my hands free to fight.
Having the current setup means it's harder to steal other crews loot plus giving you to opportunity to steal it back.
