I bought the game for PC, and have read you also get a Xbox one version of the game as well, or vice versa. Does anyone know if that code can be given away to a friend. So you can play on different devices at the same time with the one purchase?

There are no keys, the game just gets assigned to your Microsoft account enabling you to sign in on both Xbox and PC (Play Anywhere).
If you friend wants to play they will have to purchase the game for themselves.
