Hey guys, I just thought about this. I know it's a long shot, but do you know if I have a PC and Xbox if me and my kid can play together with the same copy of the game? I guess he'd have to have a different game tag, because my tag is tied to both. Thanks for any answers.
Xbox Anywhere and my kid: Can we both play together with one game?
@gholin Yes, in short, yes you will be able to!
If not automatically, you may need to setup Xbox Home/Family Sharing.
@musicmee Oh man, that's great to hear! In fact that solidifies my choice to pre-order. I don't have a second PC, so the crossplay is great, and the fact we can play together, well now I won't feel the need to solo much at all. Thanks!
@musicmee Yeah, this will definitely make the game more fun for me, because I didn't really enjoy the solo experience as much, but I don't always want to have a full crew. And since we have the same schedule, we can enjoy it at our pace when I can't play with others for long.
I'm shocked they let you play with one copy with family. That's really great!
@gholin Yeah Xbox has let you do this for a while... but now with crossplay/play anywhere it just gets better and better.
@musicmee I didn't realize. I moved away from xbox for a little bit since the Xbone. It hasn't got much use, but I think it's about to get dusted off in about a month or so :D
@musicmee Hi Musicmee, I still have some doubts about the play anywhere stuff. I looked it up online, and it stated that you can't play the game at the same time on xbox and pc. Also if my gf doesn't have sea of thieves, and gets it through game sharing, I doubt we can play the game together if I'm already logged in on pc.
Do you have a website or something that can confirm that we can play together? I'm thinking of buying an xbox one for that purpose, but I don't want to be let down if it doesn't appear to work..
@dyornos I know a few players that have played in the beta that HAVE played that way... Xbox Gamesharing/Home will be perfect too as that will 100% work...
@eep42 usually that's because you are using the same gamertag on both console and PC. Log into a different profile on the Xbox and you should be good.
This is definitely possible. I do it with my son all the time. There are really only three things to keep in mind.
- You must buy the digital/Xbox Play Anywhere version of the game.
- The Microsoft account who purchased the game must be logged in on the PC, not the Xbox.
- The second Microsoft account must be logged on the "Home" Xbox of the purchaser's account.
The reason for this is because the Xbox Play Anywhere feature is only available to the account that purchased the game. However, any other Xbox live account who is on the purchaser's "Home" Xbox will have access to play the game.
@dyornos you can't play it on two devices with the same profile but when you make the console the "home-console" of the profile you bought it with you can play the game with that profile on pc and with another profile on the xbox...this way my girlfriend and I play on two XBox'
