Different Cannon Shots

    I haven't played the beta, and the forums are very busy, sorry if this is irrelevant/already a thing.

    No difference in power, only effect.

    In addition to the awesome cosmetic upgrades to your ship, wouldn't it be great if during your treasure hunts you come across different shot types? Whether they are buried with fallen pirate skeletons, or in the actually loot itself.

    e.g ideas.....

    Chain Shot

    Larger area of effect, less damage given, good at attacking sails.

    Canister shot

    Contains small iron shots. Very little damage done to the ship, effects personnel.

    Grapeshot

    Contains small iron shots. Very effective in creating smaller holes in a ship.

    Carcass

    Effects the crew more, hitting them potentially setting them on fire.

    Heated Shot

    Effects the ship more, is likely to set certain parts of the ship on fire.

  • I wouldn't mind seeing the 'Chain Shot' to bring down masts. But don't make it a very easy shot to hit. Or make it a vary rare thing to find so you can pretty much only fire one.

    Then when it does hit, it takes at least 3 crew members to fix the mast... Maybe, not sure how well that would go but, it's an idea!

  • Different shots have been up a lot of times on other posts. This is something every one want but they have to fix ship damage allocation first.

  • I would really like to see chain shot for damaging sails and grapeshot for injuring crew. Right now there does not seem to be any damage to sails but I think that would be another area of repair like the hull. Consequence of damaged sails may mean the rigging is damaged and you will have issues adjusting them, or if the sails get shredded enough, it will impact the speed of your ship.

  • I would like to see an anti-personnel ordinance to even the odds a bit between mismatched crew sizes. As far as chainshot goes, I think anything that increases repair and maintenance effectively removes solo sloop from being viable in the meta. Especially if that something hinders escape, which is solo sloop's main means of survival. With hull repair, at least you can set your sail to the wind and let it run while affecting repairs. If you're solo sloop and your masts are damaged, not only are you dead in the water, but you'd also be affecting repairs in the open within the sights of potentially 4 snipers. i.e. you'd be a sitting duck.

  • That would be amazing, like being able to use bar shot to slow down or stop a ship, or shrapnel to damage the enemy crew? That would add a whole new level of strategy.

  • What I would like to see is a grapple/hook shot. Where you can load it into a cannon and link the two ships together. So that they can not escape. Just an idea for post launch.
