Xbox Homesharing

  • Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether SoT will be available for homesharing? It's hard for me to tell, because it seems that because it's play anywhere, your Microsoft account almost acts as a second account that's only bound to a SoT login. The reason I'm asking is because my friend is getting a copy of the game for his girlfriend but wants to know if he needs to preorder so that he's not losing the opportunity to get the Black Dog content for himself, as him and I homeshare.

Hope I made that clear enough, if someone wants to chime in on this conversation and doesn't understand what I'm asking, I'll try to clarify if you have a question. I'd really appreciate it!

  • @onetoendall Put simply.... Yes, home sharing will work, but the black dog pack will belong to the person whos account purchases the game.

probably not the case if it was purchased digitally.

  • my girlfriend and I homeshare on two xbox ones. we pretty much buy everything digital now because of it. we played the closed beta together with no issues. she did not pre-order. I did. if it worked then, i imagine it would work on launch.

  • @cwarrick66 I don't home share but I do know that the beta download and the full game are not the same download. I can see that on my xbox and PC. So don't base what you know of the beta.

there hasn't been a single game that couldn't be homeshared (if bought digitally) hell, Microsoft created the feature, and it's a microsoft game.

  • @cwarrick66 I'm not disagreeing all I am saying is the beta is not the same software and wont be for launch. You will have to download the full release still when it launchs.

  • @canadianmuscle3 i'm aware.

to the OP, I would count on there being homeshare when the game launches.

  • Good question.

I'd be keen to know if I can do the play anywhere and also home share.

  • Can someone explain? I'm thinking about buying another Xbox and SoT so my wife can play with me. Will I only need another Xbox? ( I also gave a computer that could run it with "crossplay" but just looking for excuse to buy Xbox X.)

  • Will this work with xbox to pc and vice versa too?

  • It'll be exactly the same as Forza 7 which is a play anywhere title & can still be homeshared, even cross platform!
So you'll have no worries with SOT, you will be able to be homeshare it without issue :)

  • @onetoendall Hi there, here we talked a little bit about it, should be helpful for you and the other pirates questions in here 😃

  • @cr0n0d Thank you!

  • @jdwolfe Yes definitely! So the way homesharing works, you only need two Xboxs and one digital copy of a game on either box. Here's a short guide on how to set an Xbox as your home Homeshare guide. All you need to do is log in your two accounts on each box, and swap each box for "home" and you will be able to share all digital games on either console!

  • I don't think the question is will it work.

I think the main question is will the redeemable code for the Preorder bonus work?

  • Game will work with a single copy but you may not get the preorder bonus as that will be tied to the account.

  • I can't assure that, but recently i bought the super dupa forza horizon 3 pack with all expansions, cars, vip pass ect. and i have all the content and pass on both account.

If i have to gamble i will say you will get on both. Just assumption of course.

Edit: i play on pc and my son on Xbox One S

  • Well, if Xbox does it then Windows 10 shares as well...https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/henrikn/2015/12/25/sharing-windows-10-store-apps-with-your-family/

  • @onetoendall yes, my son and I will be playing.

When I got my One X a few weeks back the old Xbone went out in the family room with the kids. By ensuring that one (the kid’s...the old one) is identified as my “home console” my new Xbox X and it share EVERYTHING digital.

We have been Monster Hunting together without an issue. It will work. 👍🏼

    (Just get it digital)
