So while everyone is concerned with micro transactions and progression in the game, has the answer of keybinds been answered for pc? I would much prefer to bind a key to each item rather than using the radial menus.
PC Keybinds
@Felid0r Keybindings are planned. We just don't know how much or what precisely we'll be able to rebind. Really wanting the ability to hotkey every item on the radials as well. I've never liked that particular ported feature from consoles.
@felid0r as PCMR i will love keybindings but we must look at the console players. They will be crossplaying with us so this menu is fair to everyone

I see the point, and is valid indeed, i will be fine also with the wheels, the only thing that annoy me, just a little bit, is that when you have the wheel open you can't turn around your character, especially during the patching and bucketing time where you need to switch items and run up and down quickly as possible. I don't know if on console they can still turn aroud with the wheel open though.
@cr0n0d I believe they will keep the wheel.. it really is the way to keep it fair for console players. Otherwise PC users would have a big advantage as far as speed when switching items. Once you get used to the wheel it is pretty quick to switch anyway.
I'd really like to be able to rebind specific key functions, but not every little thing, such as each item or bucket. As it's play anywhere and online they need to keep the balance, so I don't think they'll add, say support to bind a key for each weapon. I think weapons actually need a radical wheel also, or a different system, it feels clunky having to run through all the weapons to get the right one up. So on a controller it could be left D-Pad for swords/melee weapons( that's with presuming they have more than just the sword) and right D-Pad for ranged weapons; then use the right analogue to choose the weapon.
It's not the fastest way but it would be balanced and with some practice, switching weapons could be pretty fast. I mean they could even have:
Hold right D-Pad for the wheel of guns( left for melee) then choose like that, or tap to cycle through.
Sorry I know this is a Pc keybinding post but it just popped into my head...needed to write it down somewhere!@wirpsha said in PC Keybinds:
i don't mind a radial menu in exception of weapon switching.
weapons need to have keybinds. even on xbox its enough buttons to kbind them.I agree. I can deal with the radial menus for maps/tools, but for weapons it's extremely annoying. I would be satisfied if I could rebind only the weapons.
@avecrux One: Xboners will also be able to rebind their controls, not just choose from a limited selection of predefined controller schemes. Two: Fair? Console and PC users have specifically chosen their platforms and control interfaces for a reason. Hamstringing one because of the other is not fair. You're basically porting the limitations of one to the other. Rare has said Sea of Thieves isn't a port, but I do worry that PC players will be saddled with many, sub-par, ported console features for the sake of "fairness" or "balance".
@avecrux The wheel is a console system at the base, how many times, in combat, wanting to take a banana with my mouse, it does not work the first time. For pc, it is not ergonomic. For an equilibrium ergonimic / speed of action we need keybindings.
I played on PC and Xbox One during the closed Beta. Keybinds will definitely give PC players an edge over console players. I ran into a few macro users as well, which is also a problem that will have to be dealt with.
The equipment wheels were equally annoying for both systems. The only thing missing (as other's have mentioned) is a weapon wheel. Having to constantly scroll through your weapons to select the one you want is tedious.@sidious8888 i just learned where THE things are and p**f, everything is fine. We've got same circle in witcher3
I have played on both PC and Console like others have said, and I can confirm that even having the number keys being different weapons is a major advantage over Console Players. I would like to a wheel menu for every item.

Console Player are not able to turn while a radial menu is up as well.
@avecrux Exactly, even in TW3 the wheel is not made for the mouse but for joystick joystick, it was a hell.
And it is also so in sea of thieves unfortunately. In my example; when we wants to take a banana, you can click, place the mouse on the objects, place the mouse in the direction of the object: in any case it will work 70% of the time, while with a joystick I imagine that it works at 100%, from where it is advantage for the joysticks.@TH3GHOST23 So? We all choose to play on our particular platforms and with our chosen controller interfaces for a reason. Why punish a player because their chosen controller is superior or has an advantage over another player's controller? Also, if Rare wants their PC version to not be seen as a port, the keyboard and mouse controls better work the way PC players expect them too. Hotkeys, rebinding, sensitivity, and all.
@daimyo-dorima
Probably because it's play anywhere and completely unfair for a Pc player to be able to quickly shoot with a pistol then instantly switch to a blunderbuss and kill people. Imagine the triple combo with Pistol, blunderbuss and sniper.
It's a crossplay game and an always online PvP game, there has to be balance and unfortunately for some it'll probably stay balanced.I'm ok with key bindings but to keep the playing field level between systems a 2 weapon equip only system from a weapons box would be required for quick draw. Which we kind of see on pc already with the 1,2 key. But Xbox dosnt have that. Pc does that the mouse scroll to switch between all weapons just like xbox has a button for that.
@canadianmuscle3 I can only agree.
Easier to just use scoll-wheel on pc. ;)But the overall amount, not just weapons, of items u can hold in the inventory is "impressive".
4 weapons + amor + 10 cannonballs and we can still swim@TH3GHOST23 According to Rare, the Windows 10 version of Sea of Thieves isn't a port. Though it's rather hard to believe that looking at how features were implemented for the closed "beta". Add to that the fact that the game started pre-production/prototypying back in Spring-ish of 2014, was announced at E3 2015, but the PC Design Lead wasn't brought on until June of 2016, and that this is the first PC game they're developing...it really starts to give the impression of being one at times.
@FullmetalJakee Unfair? So in the name of "fairness" we hold back loads of other players because of the limitations or advantages of others? PC gamers have been playing games with each other for decades and have come to embrace the differences in their systems, their personal settings preferences, and their skills. Not hide behind them, using them as a way to bring other gamers down to a "fair" and "level" playing environment. For cross platform between consoles and PCs to be harmonious, the general console population is really going to need to get past what's basically an "inferiority complex".
Embrace your chosen platform, your chosen game preferences and settings, and your skill level. Be who you are and play to the best of your ability while not only expecting the same of others, but allowing others to do the same.
