Just a thought that I'd like to share with you all. Imagine that players could decide among being pirates or part of the Military forces that aim to clear the sea from them but to hunt down the treasures for their kings aswell! I mean, imagine being aboard with your crew, passing through a fight among pirates and military forces? Would you join the fight? If did, in which side? Of course there must be some kind of "sea police" right? Why would pirates be pirates then if there's nobody to run from or steal. However the amount of mili-players and pirate-players will have to be balanced but I think it will be easily solved by the developers !

Cool idea. I reckon that Rare won't introduce a military side because they want it more focused on the Thieves part of things, but that's not to say there won't be a privateer thing at some point :)

its an nice idea but i dunno if it really fits with the actual concept cuz i dunno only to imagine that i mean look at this picture it has not really some YAAARR Feeling but nevermind thanks for sharing your idea :)

Good idea. I think that it would make more sense if they got some kind of marine force
into the game.

That's 100% true! But yeap! I'm talking on the roleplay part.
Maybe a whole different looking ship rather than only customizations would be something!
Or even more different quests for mili-ships. Sinking 3 pirate ships for example could give gold in the same way pirates trade their chests (or more!)

Any ships used for piracy would in fact be a pirate ship would it not? The Somalia use glorified Jon boats as pirate ships.
I wouldn't mind seein many different kinds of ships available but i dont want to start seeing classes etc.
