Can 2 people play together on 1 Xbox Live / Gold account?

  • So, I love that the game is cross platform and PC and Xbox versions are playing on the same server. I have an Xbox gold account and will be getting game pass, and my account is shared with my wife since we both play it. If we wanted to play together, like me on the PC and her on the Xbox, would we need to have 2 separate Xbox accounts? Or could I just set up a separate user name for her in my account, and then we both can log in? We really would like to be able to play together, and in the same room :)

You would need 2 accounts m8, you can't both play on 1 account at the same time!!
It would be as simple as adding a new account to the xbox, as you will share xbox live & SOT :)

  • What they've said is correct. My brother and I played the Alpha and Beta together, only purchased one version of the game digitally! Not sure how it'll work for PC and Xbox but I assume with Xbox Play Anywhere it should work just like 2 xboxes!

  • @logansdadtoo OK, cool .. so I just create her an account.. but then do we have to buy 2 copies of the game? Or get 2 different game pass accounts? Or is it just as simple as making that 2nd account for the gold sharing, and then she logs in with hers on the xbox and I log in with mine on the PC and that's it?

  • I am in a similar situation.
I pre-ordered SoT for my wife via her Microsoft account so she could play in the beta with me. My account has gold, but hers does not. She played on the PC while I played on the Xbox.
Now in my games and apps, SoT shows up for my user SappyElephante. So do I only need to buy the game once for both of us to play once the game is released in March?
edit: like @lll-Necros-lll just said lol

  • @lll-necros-lll correct. You log in on the PC with your account that has gold. You have your Xbox set as your home Xbox. She logs into the Xbox on her account. You both can then play the game at the same time.

  • @burtmacklin410 perfect, thanks!

    Hi
Yep, just create her an account & it should be as simple as that.
I should imagine you can share game pass like everything else, so it will be just log her in on xbox, you on pc & away you go :)

  • So then on that note... will it only work on games that share servers on PC and Mac? Anyone know of other games like that? We take turns playing Fortnite a lot, would love to be able to play together there too. We were thinking of getting a 2nd xbox for another room, but it will be more fun playing together in the same room, and I have a good gaming PC so may as well use it.

  • @ant-heuser-kush I know I'm just saying that he can log in with his account in PC and not need to log into a gold account on Xbox because it's all shared.

  • @lll-necros-lll
Only Microsoft Play Anywhere titles will have this feature

I think that comes down to whether or not it's an "Xbox Play Anywhere" Title. Which essentially means you can play the game on Xbox or PC.

I'm not too sure though, someone should know!

  • @ant-heuser-kush Oh.. so, you can have 2 players on 1 gamepass if it's PC + Xbox, but with 2 Xboxes you need 2 Game Passes? Seems kinda dumb.. we have 1 netflix account and can watch it on like any TV or device we want, watching 2 different things at the same time.

  • @ant-heuser-kush @lll-Necros-lll From my understanding Game pass access shares the same as Gold.

  • @ant-heuser-kush OK cool. And is this just a gamepass feature or will it also work if we just buy the game normal? I kinda like the gamepass idea but I was also thinking of just buying the game with a season pass, since I think I remember reading that you still have to pay extra for new DLCs with gamepass. And I bet the buying the separate version might have extra goodies added in.

It is possible to play on two different systems at the same time with one gold subscription and one DIGITAL copy of the game. All you need to do is log in to the other Xbox with the account that has gold, and set it as your Home Xbox. After that you may log out and everyone on that Xbox will be able to play all your digital games online and offline and enjoy the benefits of gold. You can log in to another Xbox with your gold account (don't set this one as your home) and as long as you are connected to the internet, you should be able to play all your games online even with the people on your Home Xbox.

  • How will this work with the Black Dog pack? Will my wife and I both get the outfit even though we have ordered only one digital copy?

  • @sappyelephante Yeah that's a good question, if you get free goodies for preordering or whatever, can every account you make on your main/home xbox have access to them?

  • I do game sharing with my husband. All digital content is bought from my account and he has access to it since my account is also on his console. This includes all the pre-order bonuses I have received. We play the same online game together all the time even though only my account has Xbox Live Gold and his doesn't. Look up Home Gold and you can get the official xbox explanation on this also. Set-up your systems like @SSTasin stated, and y'all will be all set.

Apparently I don't know how to edit. In regards to Game Pass, you also only need to buy it once. Purchase that with the same account that purchased Xbox Live Gold and any digital games. Then all of the content available to that account will also be available to the other person as long as the steps already laid out by @SSTasin have been completed.

  • @sappyelephante
Only the Gamertag that redeems the code will get the black dog pack, it will not be available to anyone that gameshares etc
