More RPG aspects!

  • I live this game but I think it would be so much better with more RPG aspects in it, let me explain.

When you first get into the game it does seem like they have gone for an RPG sort of game... sort of anyway. But so far there’s no real progress in the game and it’s going to get boring. In an open world game there has to be a lot going on and a lot of stuff to do otherwise it’s not interesting enough. Although the game is still very entertaining right now it’s the type of game that you can o ly play for so long.

It need at least some progression system, it doesn’t have to be weapons and things that give you the upper hand in combat it could be things long being able to purchase a private island, or somthing along those lines if armour or upgradeing boats. Anyone got any more ideas?

And when I’m posting on here are the people at rare actually reading this and taking it into consideration or is me posting this completely pointless? Someone let me know

  • @zx7t Ahoy there, matey! The objective of this game is to build your own pirate legend. Rare have designed this game as a Shared-World Action-Adventure game. You can watch more about the progression system here. In short, there is a ton of progression and cosmetic upgrades. When the beta started, they said they would hide many aspects so we all have equal surprise when the full release hits. We've seen customizable outfits, equipment in game and heard of customizable ships. Rare are not done developing as in they aren't going to release on March 20th and just drop it there. They have planned to continuously update the game even through 2019 and they watch the forums and suggestions carefully. Having played the game since March, I trust in their process and can also confirm that this game can be played for a really, really long time. (I may not have gotten much sleep when the play tests were out) :D

  • @zx7t Yes, they read the forums.

    Here is an example :)

we are here. I wanted to assure you, we are listening to the wealth of feedback like yours. Thanks for sharing! :)

As for the progression... It seems that @WhenKoalasattak has already responded to that.

  • @whenkoalasattak what do you mean exactly by hidden stuff? And yeah but the game needs some sort of Pokemon cards if you get what I mean, like legendary stuff that you can only get from doing certain things and stuff that type of thing I think would fit into a game like this really well

  • @el-espectro-0 thanks for letting me know haha just wanted to make sure I wasn’t wasting my time lol

  • @zx7t I mean things like "While the full game will have more Trading Companies looking to make their mark in the Sea of Thieves, our Closed Beta will focus on the Gold Hoarders, to give a taste of what is to come!" and other things they said they were taking out of the beta build that I can't find the quote for now, but the beta wasn't the full game. I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised with the full release.

  • I'm all for cosmetic upgrades, I just hope it doesn't end there. The game to have legs in the long run does need to have at the minimum some light RPG elements that will adjusted game play mechanics as well. I.E. The ability to buy parts to make my ship sail faster, take more damage, or turn quicker. A simple skill tree that allows me to repair holes faster, bail water quicker, and load a cannon more efficiently. Pirates built crews back in the day based on the skills they needed on the boat... not everyone was the same skill level at everything. Fingers crossed for more details soon.

  • @red-nin9 I think if they did this it should be through choice so there isn't a way to have a superior ship.

    Ship classes:
    Standard Galleon
Man of War: More armour/guns, slower speed
Merchant ship: Fewer cannons, secure hull, faster speed
    Something like this...

So all the boats are balanced and you get to pick which suits your play style.

  • @zx7t I normally lurk but just wanted to pop in and say that there's lots of Rare staff on the Forum and we read most, if not all, of the posts. :) slinks back into the shadows to continue lurking.

  • Maybe a island (your own outpost) that you can customize . Starting on a v****n island you can buy ,where you can add houses ,Shop, tavern, defense , different customization ECT .

The secret of long lasting game is to release content even long after the release , like world of warcraft or GTA online , they keep releasing content ,stuff to buy and progress .

The game is still fun as like it is right now . But is it gonna last Years like the others , only time will tell .

I know that i will still play it because i love that game and i hope that many will do to !

I really hope they implement something like this in the game. I play a lot of pirate mmorpg's and games like so. I'm not saying that should copy of games, but I hope in the hidden content, is more ships, ability to customize said ship, and ship saving. (Saving as in, keeping the same ship throughout the game)

I think that the ship was single handily the most important thing in a pirates life. It was his home, his workplace, his livelihood. We should be able to care for it.

  • I think the addition of a basic crafting system would go a long way!
