When I switched to headphones during my time of playing, I noticed I could hear quiet talking.
My friend said "Maybe it's ambience" But when I turned the volume to max for voices and everything else down, i could hear multiple crews talking to each other in a jumbled mess. But here's the thing...
There were no crews on the island OR nearby. These voices weren't the same as nearby players either, they were really quiet as to "be there" ready to get loud if they DO get close or something. I know other games have multiple audio cues and checks to determine when to louden one or mute another. This could be one possibility?
But it's quite distracting that no matter where I went, in a quiet cave or island hopping, I can hear another crew talking and laughing about crashing onto a beach somewhere.
It's a possible way to eavesdrop.
