Build your own ship/ Expand it.

  • you start of with your crew on those 3 ships what the choises are,
After you have enough money make it so people can make there hull stronger more cannons (Maybe below deck aswell) as front and back cannons i mean if you look at things there are so many ships and every singel 1 is special in his own way...

let me know what you guys think.

  • @amnchefke as far as we know, there will only be cosmetic upgrades, nothing that will improve your ship in terms of stats

  • I love this idea. They should do it to like if youre with more than 4 friends that you can sail in groups of ships.

  • @amnchefke It would make the game much more worthwhile

  • would you like meet the 5 expanded ships fleet?
i think that the balance is of ships is very Good!

  • @amnchefke I BELIEVE THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!! Or even have it so you build your own ship right off the bat. Example: Solo ship has 2 cannons well the game gives you different spots to put them instead of one on each side. Perhaps one in front and one in back or two on left side and so on. Maybe 1 large sail or 2 small ones that are easier to adjust and such? Unlimited ideas:)

  • It would mean more grind and more frustration for people like me with jobs and family. I only have time at weekends nights and so does my friends.
I don't want to invest my life into games. There are so many heavily progression games out there and many to come in the future (Monster Hunter World for example).

Don't change a game with a different approach into something you would like to have.
It's ideal for casual gamers, log in and have a blast time. Don't fear that there are stronger ships out there, only more experienced crews. That's exactly what they told from the beginning and what attracted me to the game. Skillbased gaming like in the old days.

You could have informed yourselfs earlier about what this game is about and what you can expect. So trying to change things would mean a big kick in the nuts to all people expecting exactly what was promised.

As for the same reasons I don't play games like COD because I hate to lose to some overpowered pearks while I'm on a lower lvl. There are games out there for everyone, and having a varity of games is healty for all of us. No one is forced to play a game they don't like.

    edit: spelling

  • @amnchefke nope.

It would make some kind of patology where new players won't kill anyone cos there will be veterans with super duper ships everywhere. Devs said it many times so why you are still begging for it on the forums. 1st - check what devs are thinking about and what the are going to do 2nd - post on a forum

  • No one said it had to be an intense grind. That was literally never said.

  • @nistral I have a job where I work 50+ hours and have a social life but I manage my time, get it done, and still complete games. Whining is for the weak. "I want less content so I can actually complete a game with only playing 5 hours a week" You are the minority, sir.

  • @supashrpsh00ta So even if I have 20h per week for gaming doesn't mean I have to play this game all the time, only to be able to compete with others. There are other games I want to play too. So this would lower the time I could spend for SOT. Btw. I never said that I want less content.
If you Mr. SupaShrpShoota have the time for playing this game over 1000hrs its fine. If you can hord enough chests in this time to buy a golden legendary skin for your ship that you can only afford after spending all this hours thats completly fine too.
But still I would be able to sink your ship with my 100hrs into this game.
Content doesn't have to be progression but a variety of things you can do and explore ingame.

  • Regardless of all the issues around balance (if we are talking about capability based modifications), there is the issue of ownership. Who does the ship belong to and who gets to choose what modifications are equipped?

  • yea it would be cool if you could use the bottom part of your ship with extra cannons it would definitely slow the ship down but you would have more firepower

  • See this suggestion.

    @AmnChefke

  • @amnchefke I like this idea conceptually, but I'm in the "cosmetic upgrades only" camp at the moment.

Quoting a suggestion I put in another post that helps to illustrate my point:

@faramous said in Vert vs Hori:

@the-warcrombie I think the "rule of cool" can win here for progression. Unlock paths for visual upgrades have so much potential. I mentioned in another post that having themes in place could really be fun. This is an idea that you have all the current unlock options with gold, but you also have theme paths that you can open. So you look at ship theme paths and have say three main options. For the sake of this conversation, let's say you have "Imperial - Steampunk - Undead". You get a preview of some of it and then, for a cost, can unlock the path. You then work towards the unlocks under that. Perhaps even a 3 branch system so that people of the same path can still have different stuff. I'm talking like cannon skin change so you have a proper bone cannon where the end is a skull that you fire shots out of the mouth. People could max that out and then go on to another. Perhaps your unlocks should give you an overall sailor level so that when you finish a few paths, there's a sailor level to show for the culminated unlocks.

Again, more to be said here. I'm so psyched to say more, but am getting harassed to do some stuff.

That is incorrect, there will be functional improvements that you can make to your ship. Think of what we see now with the Blunderbuss, Flint Lock Pistol, and Eye of Reach. Only apply it to your ship. The Blunderbuss is clearly better at close range, the Flint Lock Pistol is good medium to short range, and the Eye of Reach is good at long range. Just imagine the same functional and situational upgrades only apply them to your ship instead.

With missions and objectives to earn in-game currency to buy all of it?
"Yeah. You get treasure and you want the loot, you’ll want to spend it. Personal progressions are around you and also on weapons and objects that you can carry. Everyone wants to own a ship or ships and make it look like they want it to look cool. These customizations aren’t just aesthetics but functional too. So a larger sail that looks cool will also makes your ship move quicker too."

  • @ethnine I was talking about upgrading a single object. For example making a cannon a level 100 with faster reloads, etc.

  • @dark-shadow9056 Ah, yeah direct upgrades will most certainly not be there. Functional ones will be though. :)

  • Oke listen for the people that started hating on my post directly.

I have zero to no intrest in people coming in and caufing idea's in the ground because the can only play for a surten amount of time. I work as a chef so yes i work also weeks of 70+ hours and you don't hear me complaining? Next to this i am just trying to make suggestions that I think would be a cool addation to the game.

And if the are accepted or not atleast i tried to bring a idea forward and to see what is coming in the game because beta din't tell me a lot. accept that is a beatiful game in graphics.

and for a game of 70 euro that i am only able to play on pc because i don't have a xbox
I damn sure want the game to have some content.

And for the people that gave a positief anwser or a anwser without caufing it in the ground thanks for your feedback.

    sorry for the spelling errors.

  • @quixoticfolly Thnx! that helps a lot preciate it.
