Has anyone else seen the white ghostly text riddle come across the screen? I pulled up to a outpost and it came across my screen with sound effect. Anyone else experience this?

Aye and here is the official messaging around that - it be a mystery still.

The riddle is shown when major changes are happening in the world. It won’t affect your game in anyway and you can get back to your adventures immediately. This is now widely believed to be shown when the server you are on is being merged with another... There are new ships on the horizon to keep an eye out for.
It definetly resets a few things. I was just done digigng up some treasure and was on my way bringing everything to my ship. I hid a few items including a captain's chest in the bushes and after that message showed up it was gone. But there was a gunpowder barrel nearby that definetly wasn't there before.
