Supplies and Ships over multiple sessions

  • Have they discussed what the idea is going to be when you sign off for the night and come back the next day?

I know that they mentioned the customization, but does that mean that if I launch a session with 3 other players, whose ship am I going to start on? Do I have the option to host? Can I choose my ship over my friend's? If we gather materials for the ship, do they stay over night?

I have a lot of questions about it, but what do you guys think? What would you like to see?

  • @jmlmaster I think choosing a host is a good idea.
and supplies should resat to a certain amount each time you log in/out

  • @jmlmaster We have no details about the ship customisation as of yet, so we don't know how it's going to work.
As for supplies on your ship, these are reset everytime you leave the server, so you always start with a minimum stocked vessel!

  • @logansdadtoo Here is my problem with that though, why bother stocking up tons of materials if they don't carry over?

I guess it is more of a simple annoyance than a problem, but I feel like it's not worth the trouble to go supply hunting all the time. I like the approach that Ark takes, where you can keep your supplies over multiple sessions (albiet, it's the same server).

  • @jmlmaster
You should stock up in case you need them as you are playing. It doesn't take long to start refilling your supplies if you check every island / outpost you stop at!!
It would make things too easy if everytime you started playing your ship was fully stocked!

  • @logansdadtoo Yes, and I currently do. I just think that supply runs are not necessary at the game's current state (and in the alpha, for months). The only meaningful thing to scavenge all the time are cannonballs.

  • Will we keep maps and quests, though? So far in the beta, any unfinished maps that I have are lost/ gone when I login again. Money spent on buying from the Gold Hoarder is therefore lost.
Hopefully, in the full release, quests that are bought will stay with you from session to session until you complete them. What does everyone think?

  • Devs have mentioned a "rags to riches" progression system in which you start with basic ship and clothing and progress through earning gold.
