So I’ve been royally [mod edited for language] over at every turn on this game and mainly down to the game itself not the other players. I spent the majority of my gold on a new quest last night so it was ready for me in the morning, after having trouble getting on , I manage to spawn on to an island. Only.. there was no ship for me. Until I see the mermaid smoke coming from the other side of the island. Anyway I spawn back onto my ship to get going and I realise two people had stolen my ship! So I killed them.. set up my quest and was just setting off... until they both spawned back on my ship. They would kill me straight away as soon as I spawned back as I would be hit once and then not able to move at all. Anyway after the 20th respawn I manage to get to the voyage I had laid out, intending to pick it back up so I wouldn’t leave it with these childish [mod edited for language] that wouldn’t let me even communicate to see what was going on. I thought I managed to pick it up as it had gone and I did hold X for some amount of time. So basically either it dissapeared before my eyes or the p****s that were also spiritually tied to my vessel picked it up... off of my ship... which they should’ve had no access to in the middle of the ocean unless they actually managed to attack and board me. Had they got it that way I’d have said FairPlay. So now I have no gold and no way of actually finding a chest that will give me money to start working up again. P.s it’s a real shame when such a great project gets ruined by little issues, don’t want to see this go the way of No Mans Sky

It does sound like the game had bugged & both you & the duo crew had been given the same sloop!!
The easiest thing would've been to have scuttled the ship, as this would hopefully got both crews a new ship each.There were a few issues with quests & gold etc last night, so you may have unfortunately lost your quest or it may have went back in your inventory (maybe delayed, have you tried today?)
As for the not being able to get gold to buy another quest, you have 4 options.
1 . Attack another ship & try to steal their treasure.
2 . Search all medium / large islands, a lot have random chests dotted around above ground.
3 . Search shipwrecks, as again some have treasure inside! (you can spot these by the large flock of seagulls flying above)
4 . Join a crew & do their quests until you earn some gold.@adi-gb
It is never a pleasure to hear about misadventures of fellow gamers, especially when it is that bad.I suggest to team up in a 2 or 4 man ship, let them propose quest and win gold with them. Then, stop when you have enough if you want to play solo.
But I recommend playing with other players. If you have a mic, and you say hello, be polite, throw 1 -2 joke, generally people are welcome. I met lot of good people.
I had the same issue yesterday. When I logged off, all of my maps were lost, so the gold I'd spent to buy them was lost as well. Currently, I haven't got enough gold to purchase even the cheapest map from the Gold Hoarder, so exploring the islands for chests (or theft) will be my only option until I'm a bit flush again...
It'll be a busy last night on the beta... ;DWeird that both @adi-GB and the others could spawn on the same ship... certainly not intended, guess i would have reconnected though... instead of getting killed 20 times :P
Anyway, about having no more gold, in this update you got 2 choices:
- Play on a galleon/sloop and start someone elses quest.
- Keep playing the hardmode on a solo sloop and search for chests in shipwrecks or on big islands.
I guess it wouldn't hurt if the Gold Hoarder would offer the free starting quest again if players got no more gold. But since it is very unlikely to have all 4 players being bankrupt, is see no big issue here.
Yes, the spawning of intruders on your ship is a BIG problem,,, they must fix. Gives solo players no chance at reclaiming their ship and cargo. Must be fixed!
I’m the patient sort who doesn’t like to be bested so I persisted to try and make it to the desk to retrieve my quest but I let go of that vendetta and did indeed quit and reload. Just doing a quest now but the last part of the riddle won’t reveal itself.
I had an issue with this last night where I had to hold a lantern aloft in a narrow rocky tunnel, I spent 15-20 mins doing just that and checking other tunnels just in case the compass bearing was wrong. After about 15-20 mins my crewmate gave it another go.... and all of a sudden it worked. We had tried it at both night and day, aware that certain day/night times can be a trigger and nothing worked until this miracle. This lead my crew mate to become a pain in the backside believing he is some master pirate.
So I’m wondering whether this is a bug or whether the focal point you have to be looking at is just so small that it makes it very difficult.
The riddle I have now is where I have to read the riddle in a certain place “where the snake god overlooks the beach” and nothing is happening.
Just wondering if anyone else has done this quest or had to give up like I’m trying to resist in doing?
