Voting to Cancel Missions/Quests Error

  • I've observed something quite annoying when you vote a mission in and then suddenly vote to cancel. This may be as designed, but I've noticed that once you've canceled a purchased quest, you lose what you spent of it, and it goes back to the guy at the Sanctuary. You then need to re-purchase it all over.

LOGICALLY... the mission quest should enter into a cue bin ON YOUR SHIP, if you vote to cancel, especially if you're doing single player. It's redundant to have to turn all the way around and go back to the Sanctuary to REPURCHASE again :/ Just my $0.02... keep the change!

  • @dr1sndwhichgun If it didn't work this way, you could do all but the last item on a mission, cancel it, and start it again. That would be a pretty big exploit.

  • @erikinthebakery If the mission/quest tracks correctly in-game, it shouldn't be an issue.

I.e: If you get to the final chapter of a mission, and for some reason it cancels, or people vote to cancel, whatever the circumstance may be, the mission should remain on the ship to access it later, and RESUME at the final chapter.

  • So, here's another example. I'm playing on a crew of 4. We are halfway through a voyage I bought when I decide I'm tired and log off. My crew, with their new fourth player (who is less skilled and not as good looking as I am, but such is life) finish the quest I bought. For what you want to work, I'd get my quest back (since for me it was cancelled) and my crew would finish it.
Also, what would happen if you ended up with a whole bunch of partial quests left over? To the point where your quest queue is full and you can't buy any more. But, why would your crew want to do your leftovers when they could do Jack's brand new shiny quest? And this doesn't even take into consideration whatever coding witchcraft goes into quest assignment. I'm pretty sure implementing what you are asking for would involve quite a bit more data that is not being tracked right now.

The current system is nice and clean. If you start a quest, you are committed to it. If you change your mind, or leave the game, you lose it just like you lose any chests you haven't turned in.
