NPC Ships

  • Hey, what about this to add to game something like NPC Ships? For example;
    -Skeleton Ships
    -Trade Ships (Trader's)
    -Royal Ships (English Inquisition)
    -Ships of the Spanish Inquisition
    -Pirates Hunters

    Okey now something about this.
Skeleton Ships - Allways aggressive to us. Controlled by skeletons, its will be made from skulls and bones, a lot of hole's in dark mast. Scary style. Can be found on the red sea and near by island with watch towers and skeletons camp. On board of this ship we can find few skelets, cannos, and chest (Seafarer or lower price). They may be sailing in squads (3 or less ships [Galeons too]). Than bigger ship, bigger treasure.

Trade Ships - Controlled by merchants with their guards. Skeptically for us.
We can working for them, bring something to them. Sink other Pirate Ship, or escort them to improve relations and gain money or chest/uniqal items. Or we can attack them and destroy relations with they. White mast and only Galeons Ships.

Royal Ship - First organized fraction. White-Black Ships with red cross on the mast. Aggressive to us and Spanish Ships. We can take quests from occupied english outpost improving us relations with them. When the relationship will be raised to the maximum we can buy Royal style of ship and clothes. Can by found near occupied outpost, sailing in squads (galeons and ships). We can attack them for the treasure
Spanish Ships - This same like English Ships. When we helping to English us relations with Spain will fall. This same with Spain. Golden Ships and white mast.

Pirate Hunters - Agressive to us, only problems. On his board is no treasure. White Ships and red mast. Cooperative with Traders.

And one more idea. When we will fall down on the enemy board, we will apear after death in the enemy cage. We can be sell to ransome broker. After that we will be free.

  • @full2001 i like your ideas. This game really needs some npc ships to make this game a little more lively.. it would add to the pve aspect and woildnt take away or eliminate the pvp... i think that a little much what you suggested but some of them are good ideas.....
I would like to see some of this happen because it would be fun to sometimes be forced to work with other crews to fight off a skeleton fleet

  • Devs said "no useless npc's". Not sure if they were referring to random npc ships.

  • Some npcs are ok but the more you add the more complaints from pve only crowds who will justify thier complaining by saying there are npc ships for a reason bla bla bla.

  • Think the devs have said no NPC ships period

  • @cable0312
My ships ideas is not "useless"! Every NPC have task to do. Skeletons - boys to beat, Trader - A way to getting rich, Fractions Spanish/Royal - politic and dyplomatic.

  • @full2001 No idea if you got this idea from POTCO or not, but I'd love to see NPC ships in the game too. It would add a lot more depth with the map feeling empty from just players versus the large map.

  • A skeleton ship would be rockin!!

  • This is an interesting article because the devs have said that every sail will be another player however I'm sure i also read somewhere that they are considering merchant ships. I am personally in support of npc ran ships and believe that it could go a long way to diversifying the combat and upping the pve aspect of the game.
There is also the ghostship that we saw on a trailer at one point so it's anyone's guess as to whether this will make the final cut or nah.

  • @laughsmaniacaly you sure the ghost ship wasn't the ferry? Would be nice to see ghost/skeleton ships but I'm sure they were adamant about no NPC ships

  • @hotel-actual yeah it looked completely different, just sort of like a pale blue luminous gallion not the broken wood and skulls ferry, can't remember which trailer it was tho, sorry.

  • Whilst I would love to see a ghost ship or two, npc ships atm will be non existent. Rare's intent that every ship on the sea is a player, we populate the world. That said it doesnt mean there couldnt be any with events etc.

  • @full2001 They said that there will be "no useless npc" that means that trade ships will be a thing but it will have to be real people and the skeleton ships would be useless because real people can sink you, the pirate hunters can be other pirates.

  • Okey... Pirates Hunters may be useless, but Trade Ships should appear on the seas. That fraction is the most useable of this all. Stealing them, working for them (Bring something to them, sink one of the random players). Trading with them, exchanging for epic items. Attacking competitive trade fleet, and more more and more other things to do.
Or may be skeletons ships? They have too much task to do.
