I've seen a couple people leave comments about this on different streams. Apparently, if you ring the bell of a ship you've boarded (while its crew is dead), it's supposed to prevent them from spawning on the ship or something? Can someone please confirm if this is a thing or not? Thank you :)
Ringing a Boarded Ship's Bell
I thought it was a little far-fetched to be true. But wanted to ask the community because I didn't know for sure. All of us know more than one of us, after all.
Also, @Face-0-o, I didn't know it attracted sharks. I'll have to try that out myself!

No.
The bell, from what I've seen, attracts sharks to thwart boarding parties in the water. Also acts as a first alert warning.
does it? I've heard this before, but I have a group of friends that love to ring the bell when we're swimming in loot from an island and I never see it actually bring in sharks.
@schwiftnick hey - this is a myth that some streamers have been trolling with. Don't believe them - its all fake and misleading!

Nope, the coincidental event of sharks appearing as the bell rung was just that... coincidental. It acts as nothing but a noise maker currently.
