Fun functional idea for an even smaller 1 person ship. (Stealth Ship)

  • So many times when I was playing the game I found the sloop a tad big for my tastes. So I got to thinking what would a good/fun smaller ship look like that isn't a row boat. Then I remembered that in One Piece (pirate anime/manga) this exact type of boat exists.

For this thread lets call this ship model the "Dracule" (in reference to the character who uses it)

So tell me what you guys think of it. Improvements? Questions?

EDIT: A new name has been proposed.

  • I feel the same way but I was thinking of the ship from the first pirates of the caribbeans movie where jack sails in in a sinking ship. One man one small sail a rudder and nothing else. thats something id like to see being solod.

So welcome to hard mode?... no map, no cannons, no nothing... I like it :D I suppose if you just choose to not use the map then this idea meets the remainder requirements.

Perhaps this could be replicated (sort of) by a feature they could add into the game as a cursed chest/quest. It would "turn off your" capability to access the map, food, cannons, ammo box, everything... Hilarious

  • With how visible they made ships in the beta, I think using one of these would be extremely difficult. Not to mention the introduction of the eye of reach you would have virtually no cover from enemy crew sniper fire.
If Rare touches up the visibility where you're not seen from a mile away every time (night, fog, ect), however, it would provide a stealth approach to the game that some single players would probably prefer. One idea I would love to use one of these for would be to sneak up on other ships and steal treasure quietly and unseen.
On a side note, it would be pretty funny to see a bunch of pigs and chickens on board one of these.
All in all, I want MOAR ships, and hope we do get to see some more variety eventually :)

In regards to being seen so easily; it would definitely be only for the bravest of souls. Still having a great speed and mobility will help with that. Furthermore based on the design the mast would be behind you and take a lot of the hits as you run away.

Yes this ship is perfect for stealth and being left alone. If an enemy uses their spyglass they would be able to see that you have no treasure and would not be worth their time to sink. Sure some would kill you anyways but the odds of always being attacked on sight would decrease.
