Hey everyone! So following on from my video yesterday I thought I'd share just some of the tidbits of info Rare have confirmed regarding the Closed Beta. Hopefully you're all on the high seas right now drinking grog until you puke but just in case, here you are!
So first of all, how long will the Closed Beta be running and when does it start? Well it starts at 12PM GMT on Wednesday 24th and runs until 8AM GMT on Monday the 29th, that gives us more or less 5 days to experience the Closed Beta which is pretty cool.
How can you get access to the Beta? Well I’ve actually covered this in more detail in another video of mine, feel free to check the little annotation in the top right corner but very simply you need to have joined the Insider program before 1st December 2017 or have pre-ordered the game. If you pre-ordered the game through the Xbox or Windows Store, the game will appear in your games library 24 hours before the Closed Beta begins. If you pre-ordered the game through a retailer, you will need to redeem the code for the Black Dog cosmetic pack. Once you have done this, the game will appear in your games library 24 hours before the Closed Beta begins.
Will we have access to the full game in the Closed Beta? Unfortunately not. The team at Rare have crafted a bespoke experience, a sampler if you will, for Closed Beta players that has been designed to give everyone a taste of the pirate life that they can expect in the full version of the game at release.
And now, here is a really important question; can you stream or record gameplay from the Closed Beta? Yes. As you may know, players who were given access to the Closed Alpha of Sea of Thieves were under an NDA which meant they couldn’t record or stream or TALK about their experience. In the closed Beta though we’re free to record until our hearts are content.
