Hitbox Question

  • Are the hitboxes for each character the same? Some of the characters you can make are a bit more robust than others. I was wondering will that affect hitbox when being shot or sliced?

  • id assume its all the same idk

  • @edemardil I wouldn’t consider hit box size an issue. There is no crosshair and it appears the bullets follow no straight path. More of a cone that is large (very large). Watch some gameplay videos and you’ll notice that aiming way off can even hit you’re target.

  • So there is no skill is hitting a player?

Just aim in the right direction and you hit??
    Your joking right?

  • @roughmonkey0 I mean, they did kind of hint at headshots being a thing in the Be More Pirate Video.

But honestly, this isn't a FPS, its more of an MMO. Or an open-world multiplayer adventure game with some MMO touches here and there.

  • They do show a headshot for sure :)

  • @roughmonkey0 The bullets don't just fly randomly, especially with the pistol, the blunderbuss has a big radius.

Ok, then we are now back to the original posters question.

“Do different models have different hit box.”
In simple terms “if you pick a fat guy are you easier to hit?”

  • @roughmonkey0 Not sure, possible though

I always make the smallest character I can in this kind of game anyways. Makes it harder to see :). Hit box size will be something I know a lot of people will want to know about. If they are different then we will not see many fat characters... or you will just have a lot of easy targets running around.

  • @roughmonkey0 Of course there is skills hitting other players. One piece of advice, when approaching really close another enemy player the pistol and "shotgun" so so... I think sword is the best, seriously.

I have done headshots from one ship to another, with my gun.

  • @dar-catan the size of the actual hit box is still unclear for me. However you hitting a target way off could be due to the fact that you must lead your targets in this game if there is any kind of velocity involved in the equation(one or both parties not standing still, or on moving boat). There is also bullet drop that you must account for. Although if you are using the blunderbuss thats when you can get wierd things happen because the spread has three patterns that it "randomly" cycles through.

  • I need the answer to this too. As a fat pirate i always wondered if my hitbox was bigger

  • @ethnine "But honestly, this isn't a FPS, its more of an MMO."

It has more similarities with TF2 than any MMO out there... 24 players per server for one. :P

"Or an open-world multiplayer adventure game with some MMO touches here and there."

RPG touches is more like it.

No, your character size does not increase your hitbox... all players have the same hitbox, the only difference is the size of the VISIBLE model... the hitbox is separate from it, and not visible.

That's strange though, because headshots do not work in-game. xD

EVERY attack is a body shot, which is intentional to equalize PC players and Xbox players.

  • @sweltering-nick
You 100% on this? I have been wondering for awhile

  • @nwo-azcrack Every time i open my browser, i take a look at what's goin on on these forums. xD

  • @sweltering-nick
