I've always loved coming across interesting characters with their own stories, in games.
I'm thinking about M'aiq the Liar in Skyrim or The Wise Old Man in Runescape - what type of character do you hope to meet?
Some suggestions from the last thread were:
@KnightX13 I liked your idea of that conversation, of the old shipwrecked hermit that may have gone a bit senile after his years of isolation. Maybe he talks about these insane hallucinations, and then there are brief moments of lucidity where he tells of a treasure that you can quest after.
@Schaazy I want the informative old raggedy pirate that sits in the dark corner of the tavern sharing gossip for a cup of grog. Drunk and perhaps aggressive brawlers would be so much fun for a little side "beat em ups" while waiting for the rest of the crew to exchange there booty!
@Chaos74x Death himself, Calypso from pirates of the carib and i had put a post this like this before also old classic 1930s pirate movie characters would be fun for me. Also a few Stranded damsels in distress and a cool old bearded guy you find on an island help him and he helps you with a treasure map as well as 1 on a boat or raft with same concept. we pick them up or talk to them and we do a quest or something.
@Ser-Swag-Pants I want there to be a guy just out on the ocean sailing around in a row boat who if you happen to find he will tell you stories of how his ship was sunk by other pirates filled with treasure and if you invite him aboard and listen to his stories and beat him at a game of cards or something he will tell you the location in which his ship has sunk.
@TwoToneSpud The lighthouse caretaker. Imagine coming up to an island lighthouse, and inside you find a lone man just tending to the fire. You interact with him and he tells you stories of ships that have come and gone, or of ships that have sunk off the coast of that island from before the lighthouse...
Later, during your travels, maybe you encounter another lighthouse, and inside is the same lone man tending the fire... again, he tells you more "ghost" stories.
And then just imagine that every time you come across a lighthouse, this one man is always inside, always tending to the fire- always telling you about a sunken ship or sea monster or even a hero of the area.
