@rgbknights There is a reward. Chests, skulls, cargo, supplies.
[New feature idea] Bounty Hunter Guild "trading company" + The player database...
Those are perks, not rewards.
The basic idea, at least to me, is that this will reward other players for going and hunting down another "bad" PVP players. Letting them fight it out instead of bothering me...
@rgbknights Yeah, I know that's the idea but its flawed given the framework of the game.
Suppose a randomly "high" bounty player joins my crew through matchmaking. Now I am going to be bothered because people will be targetting my ship.
Suppose I want to take a bounty quest, but the targets always leave the server before I am able to track them down. If it takes too long to find them, I could probably get more gold from just doing treasure hunts and the bounty quests become pointless.
This proposed system doesn't even stop "bad" PVP players from attacking you at will. I don't think there needs to be any additional incentives added to PVP.
Remeber the Pirates Code! Not everyone will agree with all your ideas. Be respectful of their opinions.
@rgbknights Of course. As i said, I don't mind at all if someone has a dislike in my idea. It is nowhere near perfect and it will hardly make it into the game, but lets be honest with each other. From every single video, trailer, alpha, beta, forums itself. As a pioneer and founder. Do you want me to believe that this person believes the SoT should not be anything but exploration and adventures with no PVP aspect? We all know what SoT is like, We all love it equally but this just seems to me like he is trying hard to dislike this idea without actually thinking it through. And the pirate code... I had it in mind typing that comment. I really tried not to sound like a guy who is insulted by someone disliking his idea as that is not the case. It was meant to be a serious non-insulting, yet negative comment on the comments of his own. As they seem to make little sense to me. I'm sorry if I went too far. I meant no harm.
@d3adst1ck As much as I disagree, I'm sorry for saying it in such a nasty way. It was mean and unnecessary...
I like your idea but I think there needs to be some limitations to this.
- You cannot have player based bounties, it will get abused to no end. It seemed like a good idea in SWG, but people abused it.
- Recommend a faction vendor, military, mercenary/Pirate hunter or both. People can join one of these factions for say a 3-5 day contract. While employed by this vendor they can buy information to find the most ruthless pirates.
- Pirates will need to have reputation based on how they treat their fellow pirates. Say from honorable to ruthless. Those at the ruthless end will have the highest payouts when you kill them. Only pirates in good standing will be allowed to join these factions.
- They will be allowed a 6 man crew max and they will be given a 12 gun frigate to use while under contract. Ship is a warship and cannot engage in any other faction activities or hold treasure chests.
- If they attack a non target they and their crew are fined and they are not permitted to sign on with the faction for say 2-3 days.
- Make the payouts substantial for very ruthless pirates to make it worth the work. 7. Mission can be given to a number of players so a ruthless pirate may end up being chased by a number of players. The one that delivers the kill shot gets the payout.
- This will act as a player based tool to control rampant PvP, those who want to attack other pirates or constantly steal their stuff have to worry about other players going after them. The hunters become the hunted.
@ajm123 a good way to prevent players from leaving while being hunted is, if you left while a bounty is placed on thine head. A penalty falls upon you, by some sort.
