Kraken a random event or Kraken in a static spot?

    Would you guys prefer the Kraken to be in one static location or would you have it moving around the ocean so it can appear at random perhaps not as often as a storm (hell maybe the kraken only moves with a storm to mask itself from appearing)

    I sort of like how monster hunters does tracking for Monsters, I feel like the greatest hunt/treasure/discovery is to find these sea monsters who I am 100 percent sure will demolish players and should at the very start of the game, Ikind of also hope it takes a few months to beat the kraken to where it's smart enough to retreat but when it appears again it'll have scars of battle

    A series of random markers where you need to be hunt or hunted would do. Keep it a mystery.

    To me having events be random would be more fun. I think if it was set up like it happens a few times a day or less would be fun. Depending on its difficulty and how large of a raid/event it is key. You also have to take into account is how many different types of events and raids there are.

    @chosen-predator I think it should be in a hard to reach area, but not in the same location every time. Maybe somewhere on the edges of the map, but it moves around the edges of the world.

    I dunno, Rare hasn't shown that stuff yet so its still kind of an unknown right now. Like I even wonder what the rewards will be. Hopefully its not a go here and kill Karken quest for gold....

    I think it should when you least expect it. You could be fighting a boss or fighting off a storm, then bang kraken attack haha

    @chosen-predator I'd like to see a mix of all, something like random public events at night, you hear the sounds/calls getting closer, and closer, until WHAM, then that impacts only you/those around the immediate vicinity, defeat a few tentacles (drop onto the deck) and it retreats kind of deal.

    Then have like turn ins of the tentacles unlock a unique voyage variant with Order of Souls, which lets you venture to a location and "disturb" the Kraken into a full battle, maybe something that requires getting a few crews together for.

    Then have some other "no-win" situations that set up the events/mood like being attacked in a storm or during your first mission near a certain selection of islands etc.

    Something like that.

    yeah I like a few of the ideas in here, I would love to have a few psychological cues, sounds, ship rumbling or hard to control...basically the kraken messing with its bait mentally before attacking.

    I think I like the idea of hunting grounds where they are known to be, but still a random encounter within the area. This way noobs, can steer clear around the area if need be. Could also contribute to battle tactics forcing your foe into a Kraken area while you skirt the outsides.

    It's got to be anywhere and everywhere... the Kraken doesn't care where he is... he just wants to plunder as many ships as possible.

    @chosen-predator Different Places for sure! Being in the same place constantly would get boring. It would also be a lot more interesting, exciting and scary coming across one when it's random as you will be caught off guard.

    I think a rotating position with rotating spawn times

    Example

    Kraken can spawn between point A and point B between 0:00-8:00

    Kraken can spawn between point C and point D between 8:00-16:00

    Kraken can spawn between point E and point F between 16:00-24:00

    So, the kraken may be in all of these spots in the allotted time, or it may be in none of them. Say it has a 10% chance to spawn in each location for the time frame.

    I'd like to see the kraken as a kind of random boss fight. Make it so you have to fight it to earn a unique item like a golden kraken tooth that can be turned into the Gold Hoarders for 1,000 gold, a Kraken Tentacle, that you can turn into the Merchant Alliance for 1,000 gold, or Kraken Blood, which you turn into the Order of Souls for 1,000 gold. Just a thought! :)

    It'd be really awesome if during gameplay each crew and their ship every every "X" ammount of time. (Hours?) Gets rolled in an RNG table determining who gets hit with a kraken attack. Kraken either decimates a crew, or the crew wins and kraken flees until next roll. Keeps it random and surprising.

    Of course unlucky pirates could get hit back to back, but we can pretend thats kraken coming back for revenge lol

    Definitely random would be best. I like the idea of having the possibility of it attacking the unsuspecting voyagers with little warning plus for those needing to hunt the beast, it leaving tell-tale signs of its passing for them to follow.

    Although I would love if Rare could include; whether it be the Kraken or another Sea Monster, am enemy creature that is stirred up by ships battling on the open seas (random chance not always). Because imagine you and your crew battling against another ship or two when you awaken and stir something from the deep below that comes up and attacks any ship who gets too close. It would literally “turn the tide of battle” as you would make a choice: Flee or Fight.

    Who knows? Maybe your enemy will work with you to defeat the beast or you could take the chance to flee and leave them to a possible watery fate...
