Ahoy there! There have been a fair few threads and even more people wondering if we will be getting a collectors edition of the game.
With it being close to launch and even closer to beta can we please get a definitive answer to this question.
Im assuming that if there was going to be one personally it would have been anounced by now, but I would like to know for certain so i can get my pre-order done and dusted.

@knifelife It's looking more and more unlikely as time goes on.... but I really hope even after launch they think about releasing one!

I was kind of hoping we would get an edition with the game, controler, in game skins and art/story book. Maybe with like one extra skin or a coin or something.
I would of forked out a pretty penny or two for that bad boy!

To be honest i find it very peculiar in myself that i want one, i think the last collectors edition i ever bought for a game was Black Ops 1 on the 360 and i never really saw the point.
But somethings telling me i want a Sea of thieves one lol, maybe its just my inner pirate making me hunt for that prize just out of my reach! XD
@knifelife Yeah, would of liked something like a ship in a bottle or something and for the box it came in to look like a chest as well would have been cool.
I can well imagine the way it would look. The box itself would be a chest, once you open it, you find a map of all the islands and some red X's at the possible chest spawning locations, there would be that pouch we talked about, a golden skull with green lights inside (just like the one you get from the skeleton fortress quests), a pirate sword butter knife, the game itself and most importantly a tiny pocked Hurdy-gurdy. Genius...
@stacky-a The cat you made would of made an epic Collectors edition item! Rare could learn a couple of things from ya aha!

Yeh Our Eb Games stores in Australia will happily upgrade any pre-orders which is great, I'm assuming most other stores would do the same.
I'm good with something in-game, usually, i end up regretting having something physical with collector editions because they end up breaking somehow without even touching them.
Although the metal gear revengence had the greatest collector edition thing of all time a electric sword with lightning bolts emitting from it lol

@triheadedmonkey That is no collectors edition. As a successful businessman with a double major in marketing and management, that is a freak show marketing scheme to generate publicity.
People who have a quarter of a million dollars accessible didn’t get rich wasting money on something like that. Although, you could be a modern day entertainer with no real skill set and waste money like that. Easy come easy go!
@KnifeLife Still hoping for some form of collector's edition at some point but am more doubtful it would be on release sadly. I guess with all the books and other merchandise we could make our own idividual pack but I would really prefer something official.
Maybe (if we keep up the 'pressure' they might do an Anniversary edition of goodies at a later date but won't be the same. There is just something about owning physical items lknked to something your are a fan of or interested in.
The final answer is no, there will not be a collectors edition as confirmed in the latest podcast. But there will be lots of things added to the store for you to express your love for Sea of Thieves.

Honestly, I'm happy that they aren't releasing a collectors edition of the game. With some games there can be like 294250 different super ultra mega collectors editions often costing anywheres from $100 - $150. I agree with Rare's choice in that if you want to show your appreciation and support for SoT, buy whatever you like from their store.
