How does in-game voice chat work?

  • Wondering how the in-game voice chat system works? I understand there is a proximity system in place where other players around you can hear what you are saying which I think is amazing because it'll make for interesting pvp dynamics. How is the setup for mic usage though? Is the mic always open or is it a push-to-talk function? I've noticed some crews are linking their discord, I hope they don't plan on just using their own personal discords and disregarding the in-game voice system as I think that would kill some of the fun. That's just a personal opinion however. I think using discord would create a disadvantage to players who are being attacked because those users on discord can speak without others hearing them. It add a level of difficulty to orchestrate an attack but having to be quite so the enemy doesn't hear you speaking.

  • As far as I can tell, if your mic is on, people will hear you and all you need to do is talk into it. As long as your mic is on and working, you can engage in conversation anytime you like.

  • @jonn-havoc What I've gathered from the videos, it looks like you can always hear and speak to your crew. And other players it's proximity based

  • I love the proximity chat. Allows for some fun conversations with other crews :D

  • Proximity chat is great and a lot of fun because any one close enough can hear you. But if your split up on a island will you need an Xbox party? You might be to fare away from each other for proximity chat.

  • @zombie-p1ague Crew chat is not proximity based. You can hear them at any distance.

  • @gkbmore410 thank you that’s really helpful I was worried it would be like ark survival

  • @lizalaroo Yep, its one of the things i most love in this game

  • i must be super unlucky or something is wrong. I have played 40+ games with randoms and yet I have find someone with a mic ;(
