I'm new here, so I guess an introduction is needed....
As far as Sea of Thieves goes, the first time I saw it, I actually wasn't interested. I just brushed it off as a pirate open-world title where players will sink my ship, kill me and my crew and steal our loot, "what fun"... /s. However, once I started looking into it more (and development starting adding more and more) it actually started to look quite deep and maybe even fun... As you can tell, I'm not a fan of pvp and pve existing freely together in games, however I'm willing to give a game a chance if despite this feature, the game is still enjoyable. I just pre-ordered today, so I'll give it a shot in the beta. I can always cancel if my "fears are confirmed," sort of speak.
I used to be heavy into MMO games like this, but not for many years. My games of choice were WoW (during the Lich King expansion) and City of Heroes (R.I.P.) The last forums I was really active in was the Splash Damage forums, back when they were working on BRINK, as well as XCOM and Kingdoms of Amalur.
Now about me -
I was born and raised in the suburbs outside Philadelphia, PA and for a short time actually lived in the city (Fishtown.) Me and my "wife" (we never got married) have been together for 15yrs. and we have 6 cats.
I'm in my 30's and I've been gaming since I was 4, on an Atari 5200. I grew up playing the 8 and 16-bit consoles and then when I was around 14, I started to get into PC gaming, and through much of high school and into my 20's, I played nothing but PC. I've also never owned a store-bought PC - I have built every rig I've owned. My favorite genres are rpg's and shooters, with the exemption of jrpg's - I cannot stand them. I'm an introvert in real life so I tend to be quiet, but although I might not talk much, I listen and I know how to play.
Games I'm looking forward to are Pillars of Eternity 2, Anthem, RDR2, Cyberpunk 2077, and whatever the next Elder Scrolls game will be... I recently finished Wolfenstein 2 (excellent game) and I'm currently playing Legends of the Sword Coast, both on PC.
Outside of gaming, I also play drums and dabble in digital art (just got a Wacom tablet - barely touched it..) I also used to mix/arrange my own music using Sony Acid, but that was years ago. Some of my favorite films are Predator, Pulp Fiction, Dumb and Dumber, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Casino, JFK, Star Wars and The Matrix (I could go on for awhile...) I also enjoy documentaries, with Zeitgeist being my favorite.
Music-wise, I enjoy Classic Rock, Motown, certain forms of Funk/Fusion, Synthwave, but my personal library on my PC is all Metal and Rock. Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Dream Theater, RATM, Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, Testament, Epica, Stratovarius, KISS, and Iron Maiden should give you an idea of what I have on my PC.
I figure that's long enough. I tend to give long posts/replies, so I'll just stop myself here... Maybe I'll see some of you in-game. If so, you don't have to worry about me runnin' ye' through and stealin yer hard-earned lootz. Hopefully I can expect the same in return...
