Hourglass Queue Settings

  • On average, I have to wait 5 minutes to get a match for Hourglass, and that's on a good day at a good time in SOLOs. I know it's not possible to drastically spike the mode's player count to fix this, but could we add more queue settings, such as the ability to use any SBMM and matchmake against the first person you find?

In addition, is it possible to make HG more beginner-friendly to introduce people to the mode or make it more financially viable? This could include gold on win, or even just increased win or even loss XP.

It's come to a point where a single match in HG is all I have the willpower to play because the queues take unreasonably long at this point to which I wonder if others feel the same way I do, resulting in the mode slowly dying.

    Normal.

    Wait times would be endless.

What to make friendly here? You want PvP, but don't want to sail for it, you open the world map and...dive. Then you do battle, what to learn?

Good news. You dont have to play Hourglass to experience...PvP.

No, it isn't? It's an unreasonable amount of time to queue for anything

These changes would reduce wait times?

Literally how to fight other players? On-demand matchmaking? The WHOLE point of Hourglass?

Now you're just being contrarian to be contrarian? Do you even play the game? Every time I see you on the forums, you're just creating strawman points to disagree for the sake of disagreeing. It's a horrible look and is a type of trolling, yet, amazingly, the mods haven't removed you from the Forums yet. The only excuse for behaviour this unbecoming is if English isn't your first language, and the translation app you're using doesn't work well.

No they would not. Rather the opposite.
Because both players need to have the same Settings. Else the settings for one would be ignored.
And if you have separate settings you split the amount of players that you queue with in half or more which of course ends in longer wait times.

  • @burnbacon All I ask is for an arena just lost an 8 streak to third parties :/ Yay I love sea of thieves!!!!!

  • @burnbacon I can't see the difference in trying to get comms done and torture. Not only does Sea of Thieves not listen to their community. They skim over things that would be bad like grapple gun and enemy ships armory, give a fix, and call it a day rather than find the best thing MAJORITY of ACTUAL players that ACTUALLY GRIND HOURGLASS would like but instead they listen to discord mods that sit on here giving complaints to everything somebody says like you. GENUINELY ASK YOURSELF WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO LOSE IF THEY ADD AN ARENA? THE SMALL AMOUNT OF PLAYERS THAT LIKE GETTING 3RD PARTIED? IT MAKES ME SO INFURIATED THAT THIS IS THE EXTENT I HAVE TO GO TO FOR A SAY AND RARE'S STILL NOT GONNA LOOK AT THIS. IF YOU THINK THIS ISN'T A HATE COMMENT YOUR WRONG IN FACT THEY WOULD RATHER BAN ME INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY BANNING THE CHEATERS. THIS IS THE WORST COMMUNITY BY FAR, AND ALL YOUR GONNA SAY IS "sounds like you shouldn't be playing the game." TRUTH IS MAJORITY OF PEOPLE THAT PLAY THE GAME WOULD WANT AN ARENA FOR HOURGLASS AND THAT'S ALL I ASK FOR.

  • I have to wait 5 minutes to get a match for Hourglass, and that's on a good day at a good time in SOLOs

Well, you'd be about right; I just had 10 matches in a row, and each wait time was roughly 30 seconds to 3 minutes. But I don't see this as a problem for anyone.
If you really wanted to PvP, and hated sitting around doing nothing. You sail the map and sink the first ship you see.
and often from what people post: it happens a lot. Even before they leave outposts.

use any SBMM and matchmake against the first person you find?

So as it has been told. IF by chance your SBMM can't find anyone close to your so-called skill level. You are still sitting around. Since you're against waiting for the first person to be found, you'd rather wait longer to find someone, but you just said you hated waiting 5min... (What do you actually want?)

is it possible to make HG more beginner-friendly

Again, I state the question. How do you make PvP friendly? You aim cannons, fire, and hit or miss. Sink ships, use different ammo types, or board and go from there. A lot of things you can't really teach, it more learning as you play.
In most cases, if you're a beginner, you stay away from Hourglass. That frankly should be a near endgame thing.

resulting in the mode slowly dying.

and I bring up the rest of the game is open to you. Instead of doing nothing but waiting. You sail the open seas. Sink ships regardless of what they are doing. If you crave pvp, that is the answer.

Also Hourglass is a Tool...if you want to teach new people about it, that be the first thing.
    Last Ship is a mode.
