This is completely anecdotal based on my personal experience and in no way do I a claim to guarantee successfully encountering the Shrouded Ghost following these steps, with that being said, this is what I did:
I have been playing this game since the beta. Between then and now I've killed a lot of megs including The Hungering One when we had to summon it using a shanty!
Eventually Meg hunting lost it's appeal and for years I would simply ignore megladon attacks, occasionally glancing to check what colour they were just in case I missed the opportunity to hunt the fabled Shrouded Ghost.
Seven years passed give or take...
One day I decided enough time had passed without ever seeing the Shrouded Ghost and I was going to start actively hunting for it. Once I had resigned myself to the Hunt, I established a pattern that I thought might increase my chances.
My hunt for the Shrouded Ghost took about two weeks and it was all done on High Seas.
I decided to spend most of my time in open waters as far from land as possible, staying away from islands as much as possible to increase my chances of meg attacks. The things I did during this time were all to do with representing the Hunter's Call.
A day in the life of hunting for the Shrouded Ghost looked like this:
- Chose a captained ship (sloop) to set sail on.
2.Raised the Hunter's Call Emmisary flag.
3.Bought a bait crate, hunting spears, also bought supplies from the merchants, bought meat to cook and captained supplies from the shipwright too. Had to have a well stocked ship for this. - Loaded up my sloop with everything I purchased from the outpost.
- Voted on a sunken shrine for the Hunter's Call.
- Set sail and dived to the location.
- Did the sunken shrine and collected the loot.
- On the way back to the nearest outpost to sell the loot I did a bit of fishing and cooked all the meat I had. Some previous steps including cooking meat accumulatively made me a grade 5 with Hunter's Call which reveals locations of ancient megs on the map to hunt.
- Sold loot at an outpost, bought more hunting spears and more supplies from merchant and shipwright.
- Hunted Ancient Megs solo, occasionally visiting outposts to sell loot and resupply.
- Stopped and killed every meg that attacked me along the way.
- Killed every shark that I saw along the way.
- Cooked all the meg and shark meat along the way.
- Occasionally played summon the megladon shanty along the way.
- Repeated this process for two weeks.
Along the way I also did a lot of the wild seas commendations.
Result:
In the shores of plenty after completing a sunken shrine raid for Hunter's Call, while sailing back to the nearest outpost to sell the loot. I was attacked by the Shrouded Ghost and defeated it.
About a week or so after that I obtained the Wild Seas curse.
Hope this helps the Shrouded Ghost hunters out there.
Good luck. 🤞
