New PVP modes would be great!

  • Arena is probably never coming back and last ship standing is only half of what arena was and hourglass burns players out.

I think what would be cool would be multiple different PVP modes like 2 Vs 2 ship battles, like alliance battles rather than all against all and for the matches to have a time limit and the team to finish on the highest score wins. This would break the established meta used in HG and make things more interesting. Extra points for killing players and sinking ships during the match. Respawn with zero points if your ship sinks.

Also, a zone control mode focused on land based close quarters combat perhaps using an ashen garrison would be good fun. Again, the crew that controls the most zones for the longest wins and captures the garrison. This would give TDM players a mode they deserve.

A treasure hunt mode where two teams are given the same map to buried treasure and the first team to obtain it and return it to an outpost wins big. Again, time limited with a point scoring system.

    Just ideas.

The last one is basically arena but I was thinking the whole SOT map could be utilised for treasure hunt. Essentially we already have treasure hunt in high seas but different teams having the same map leading to high value treasure isn't something that presently exists.

Gives me Skull of Siren Song vibes....

  • Got to have a pvp mode first to have another.

  • @soloventure6142 they added ALL areana things to custom servers so you can build it yourself and host it. That comes out in season 20. They said that is the only way they will bring arena back. You build it yourself. Also you can host any ship battles you want on custom servers and it even has scoreboards to track things.

  • I think players who want PvP and players who want PvE can absolutely coexist. Something like seeing two crossed swords in the world could work as a PvP Raid — a permanently active one. You just sail there and fight whatever ships are inside. You earn points for every cannon hit, lose points for every level of water that enters your ship, and gain points for every second you stay in the area without taking damage. Every weapon hit on an enemy gives points based on damage, and getting a kill gives even more.

Then you can exchange those points for gold.

It should be a large area. There could even be two types of PvP zones. One where you see “ghost ships” representing players already fighting 1v1 — meaning you can’t interfere. When you enter that zone, the game pairs you with another player who enters, and you both get matched for a duel.

The other mode would be a free‑for‑all. These areas could even exist outside the main server, but accessible through a portal when needed.

That way, you can enter directly before starting an adventure, but you can also enter while already in an adventure.

Very true actually. Maybe just bring back arena 😂

Customer servers in my opinion is sea of thieves creative mode. I don't think it's going to hold much weight for actual competitive play. There are no rewards or rep for anything on this mode so time spent playing in this mode could otherwise be spent obtaining rep and unlocking coveted cosmetics via HG and I'll give you two guesses as to where players will be spending their time the most.

I like that creative mode is coming because it gives us all an opportunity to mess around, make Machinema movies and practice our TDM and Naval skills in friendly matches with friends, it's going to be amazing for lore video content creators too! It's not real shared world sea of thieves though and that's what needs more spice to keep the player base engaging! There isn't much for veteran players at present sadly.

Pve and PvP players do co-exist within the shared world of high seas. HG is already invaded by players who see matches occuring nearby and champions are marked on the map already.

Players transporting loot with no interest in engaging other players can now play on safer seas but there is an incentive to play on high seas which is balanced by the risk of being contested by other players, this is essential for a pirate game. It is at least one step up from just being a pirate themed game based on the fact you can attack player ships and steal loot or be aware that it's a possibility while you are transporting loot.
