I want to share a story about how, six months ago, a friend invited me to play Sea of Thieves.

  • Six months ago, my friend highly recommended the game, so I bought it in the steam right away. We played for one evening, and the next day we planned to play again, but I couldn’t log in due to a login issue. Both online sources and support said the issue was related to my privacy settings and that I needed to grant access. I followed all the steps, but nothing helped. There were a lot of unclear instructions involving deletions and restarts, even though it was obvious the issue was on the game or account side. I communicated with support for about a week, then gave up and deleted the game.

Fast forward six months, I had already forgotten all that frustration and now owned a PS5. I saw this great game in the store again and bought the Deluxe Edition immediately. After downloading it, I tried to log in… and unexpectedly got the exact same error as before. I tried to resolve it again through online resources and support, but they just redirected me to email, and I already knew how that would end.

So I decided to create a new Microsoft and Xbox account. After linking it to my PS5 account, I was surprised to see my old character from six months ago in the game. I have no idea how that works, but at least I finally got in. However, I ran into a new issue, my account didn’t have the Deluxe content. After hours of communication, I understood that this was likely due to a conflict between the Xbox account (which had the standard version) and the PS5 account where I purchased the Deluxe Edition.

Once again, I contacted support. After more hours of communication, they told me I needed to unlink my PS5 account from the Xbox account and create a new Xbox account. I followed all the steps, only to encounter another issue, once an Xbox account is linked to a PS5 account, you can’t link a different one.

Am I really the only one this “lucky”? I’ve contacted the game support again, let’s see what happens next.

  • Okie..so what is the feedback on this?

You had an error on Steam and quit.
Bought the game again on PS5 and same error (which we dont know the error at this point).

New Login/New Account seem to prove your old account had a weird setting that done this, since the newer one does not..

Idk man, 2026 and players make some crazy problems with accounts, linking, unlinking...and buying games again for different systems. Just seems a typical operator error OR there is something wrong with your PS5/Xbox/Steam accounts and linking them.

But I go back. Is the feedback here saying, the services from support is bad?
