Hourglass fix

  • make it so you go against players at the same level as you in the faction for example a level 20 servant against a level 15-25 guardian it will make hourglass easier and more fair as you progress you you will get better and go against stronger players it just makes sense

  • Sbmm exists, it’s just that they don’t want you waiting a really long time and it just gives up and throws you against whoever after a few minutes

  • make it so you go against players at the same level as you in the faction, example a level 20 servant against a level 15-25 guardian

So, what the fix here? You already face against players of high level than you, or sometime slower.

But fun fact: The Level? Isnt skill level. Just a number showing how long they played and often won more.

  • @rpg8797057 hourglass matchmaking already tries to put you into a lobby with similarly skilled players. The reason it may not feel like it is for a few different reasons:

    • After 2-3 minutes (iirc), the matchmaking skill window is widened for you to attempt to put you into a match faster. When Hourglass first released, matches had a much tighter skill window, but at the cost of waiting an average of 10 minutes to find a match
    • The time you play on or the server region you matchmake into can be somewhere not many other players match into. The less players you are able to match against, the fewer options matchmaking has to put you against
    • If you are new to Hourglass, the matchmaking system doesn’t know your skill level. I have been able to fight players that already have 1000+ levels (Gold curses) in Hourglass while my level is only a combined total of 500. This is because they either didn’t put as much practice into the game as I did, or used unsanctioned methods to obtain the curse we won’t be mentioning here.

Hourglass has never been a super popular mode for players. In total, only around 7% of the player-base has obtained an Hourglass level 100 Curse and completed the ritual (source being XBox achievements). As such, Sea of Thieves hosting a much smaller playerbase than most other games today (dead game ecks dee) results in these long matchmaking times with unfortunately, very little solutions to be offered

TLDR: They try to already, there just aren’t many options for you to queue against, so the game tosses it out the window for a faster match with less of a tight skill window. Also, levels aren’t a direct measurement of skill, only experience

  • If I'm level 2500 how many level 2495 - 2505 are in queue?

  • @boneheart1237 YES i know that there is a hidden rating ,based on mmr however im level 20 and get macthed up with people with skeleton curse constantly alsoplus if after 2-3 minutes if it doesnt match us with anynore then we should get the option to pick wether we want go against someone random not just go against someone who would sink me in a second

  • @rambobrad max lvl is 1000 and there isnt many players in a high level like that so it would obviously be different ?

The max is not 1000, it is actually 9,999 per faction

  • Hourglass has been out for over 3 years. It has skill based matchmaking the problem is if you are a low level you are late to the game mode. If there is no one at your skill base they can have you sit and wait which could be hours or days at that rate to find you an opponent but instead they made it after they search for so long they put you in the next available match. Which would you rather do never find a match or learn to play by going against experienced players? They at least let you receive allegiance rep from losing and don't make it only the winner gets Rep. It's frustrating to you but unless more new people start playing you are at the mercy of who is on at the time you are now. This is why so many people call the daily HG players sweats. No its not that we just have been enjoying the mode and learned how to play it after all this time and play it daily.
