Can something be done about these OP Blackpowder kegs…

  • Hello fellow pirates. I love this game. Everything from PvE to PvP. But these OP blackpowder kegs are just too much! Yes, it levels the playing field for new users and small crews to go up against bigger ships. But it also takes a lot of fun out of the game with them being so easily accessible. At least with the stronghold and Athena kegs, you need to complete a FOF or dig one up from a captains’ orders. It’s different having a ship roll up on you if you’re not paying attention. But at least give players a chance. Who wants to spend hours looting just to basically be insta sank by one of these things? If players want to use them to blow each other to bits, I understand. Maybe they should think about using some type of identification marker on the map when a ship hits grade 5. At least give players some semblance of hope. Even if it just marking a square on the map to let you know the keg is somewhere within that grid could help a lot with gameplay. Not only would this give players who spend hours looting a chance to hold onto their treasures, but it would also make things a bit more interesting upping that excitement factor when seeing watching the map grid your in begin glowing red. (However the creators would do it.) Paranoia of knowing it’s close. Do you ignore? Do you stop what you’re doing and sit on the ship waiting for something that might never come? Do you run? The choice/chance is yours. It’s just an idea. But if they’re going to have something on the map that can sink even galleons in seconds, at least give them a fighting chance!

    But....

with them being so easily accessible.

    and can easily backfire...

give players who spend hours looting a chance to hold onto their treasures,

There it is. Player hoarding loot for long hours, losing it all and blaming the game. Sell more often...

Personally. Add weight, you walk or swim slower. Longer fuse (15 seconds still long time) or as many say...Reduce how you require them, which would result reworking the voyage.

Yeah but there are stronger kegs than black powder, but they aren't as easily obtained.

  • @blitzkreegr
Also black powder barrels are on like every other grid square, so maybe your idea would only have it show up if the keg is actually moving? I don't know, just suggesting.

  • They should limit these per server like the reapers chest. Something that can basically insta-sink to even the most experienced players is taking a lot of the fun for the newer and less skilled pirates. I’m not saying get rid of them. Just maybe mark them on the map as they’re further away, and then once you are in the same grid square, maybe highlight that square somehow without showing the exact location. This way you know it’s close, but could be just a mind game or possibly about to be brought up on your boat! Would certainly make things interesting.

So now we have to always check the map??
