Veteran player blocked by cheating in Hourglass – Request for escalation and exceptional support

  • Hello Rare Support,

I am writing this message as a long-time Sea of Thieves player who is reaching a breaking point.

I have been playing Sea of Thieves since day one. I currently have over 3,500 hours in the game and have completed almost every single commendation and achievement. The only major progression I have left is related to Hourglass PvP.

Unfortunately, at the current state of the game, this progression has become practically impossible.

I encounter cheaters extremely frequently in Hourglass sometimes one match out of two. While I do report them and I do see bans happen, the core problem remains: they simply create new Xbox accounts and immediately come back. This makes legitimate progression unreliable and unfair.

Hourglass requires long win streaks (4, 10 and more). In the current environment, this is no longer a question of skill, but of luck whether you face cheaters or not. For a veteran completionist, this makes the system feel broken. My progression is being blocked not by my performance, but by repeated cheating.

Sea of Thieves is not just a game to me. I have invested years into it. I love it and I do not want to quit. But the current situation is mentally exhausting and deeply discouraging.

I am asking for my case to be reviewed and escalated by a human support agent. I respectfully ask Rare to look at:

    My playtime and account history

    My reports

The frequency at which I encounter accounts that later get banned

And the impact this has on my Hourglass progression

If no playable solution can currently guarantee fair progression in Hourglass, I would also like to ask whether an exceptional solution could be considered for veteran players in my situation — including, if necessary, the possibility of granting Hourglass-related commendations or achievements based on account history and good faith.

I do not ask this lightly. I only ask because the current environment makes legitimate completion practically impossible.

I love this game. I simply want a fair way to finish what I have spent years working toward.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

    Kind regards,

  • I can't understand the content of this post, can anyone tell me what he wants to express?
Requesting official compensation for the PVP level of a player who lost a game due to using cheats?
Or should we request the official to screen the duration of PVP players?

  • While this game does have a cheating problem, its not as bad as you make it out to be.
Getting these commendations is far from impossible.
But yes changes have to be made.
In one of the recent developer updates, Drew said that locking Hourglass behind levels, is on its way.
This should reduce the amount of cheaters by a lot, depending on how high the requirements are of course.

Giving out free levels for good faith is not an option though.
This would likely lead to backlash from the community, if the people who already achieved said commendations and levels legitimatly, arent properly compensated.

You should wait with your grind till next season, since the Hourglass changes will arrive then.

  • @zapredelniykot that is the response : Thank you for contacting us. Captain Savage here!

We appreciate your feedback, we understand your frustration. Unfortunately, in Player Support, we deal only with technical issues that our players are facing and we are not the correct channel for feedback. We have several feedback and suggestion threads on the forums that the community, development and design teams are interested in and always monitor.

It would be very helpful if you would be able to add it here so that they can be considered:
Feedback and Suggestions – Sea of Thieves - Feedback + Suggestions

  • While we understand the frustration of facing cheaters, it is something the team are consistently working on in an ever-changing landscape of bad actors. Every report we have helps us identify bad actors and the tools they use however, the forums is not the place to ask for such escalation as no one here has the tools to do what you're asking.

As we touched upon in a recent Dev Update as well, we are looking at Hourglass as a whole and what we can do to improve the experience.

I will also make sure this is fed back to the team.

As stated in the forum rules, in-game moderation actions, this includes cheating reports etc can not be discussed on the forum - no one here is able to help with in-game requests and we can't action what you're asking in this post. The best thing players can do to help us is to report with evidence when they meet cheaters.

Please contact support if you need to make a report.

    Dropping anchor here.
