As a fellow game developer, you guys really need to look into fixing random encounters. Players have ways to encounter megs and skellies at any time they wish, so there really isn't such a need for such an extreme forced encounter rate right after you were just in combat, and if you can't fix it you need to find someone that can.
I just took down my first redmaw tonight as a grade 5 hunter - SOLO as well - and couldn't even retrieve the loot because a hungering meg spawned right after and everything de-spawned as i tried to get over to the loot spot while being knocked around and filled with holes by the new meg.
This current encounter system is horrible game design and a huge deterrent for new players. All you need to do is a simple looping proximity check to see if a player is near loot or an enemy, maybe even just check the last time they were in combat. I don't even know what code language you use but I guarantee I could script something akin to that for you - free of charge - so your programmers have no excuse to not address this issue when it should be among the top priorities for everyone's quality of life gameplay.
EDIT : Forgot to mention, a skeleton ship spawned on me as well DURING the redmaw fight, the only way i sunk that was from the redmaw blasting it full of holes for me
