FORCED ENCOUNTERS

  • As a fellow game developer, you guys really need to look into fixing random encounters. Players have ways to encounter megs and skellies at any time they wish, so there really isn't such a need for such an extreme forced encounter rate right after you were just in combat, and if you can't fix it you need to find someone that can.

    I just took down my first redmaw tonight as a grade 5 hunter - SOLO as well - and couldn't even retrieve the loot because a hungering meg spawned right after and everything de-spawned as i tried to get over to the loot spot while being knocked around and filled with holes by the new meg.

    This current encounter system is horrible game design and a huge deterrent for new players. All you need to do is a simple looping proximity check to see if a player is near loot or an enemy, maybe even just check the last time they were in combat. I don't even know what code language you use but I guarantee I could script something akin to that for you - free of charge - so your programmers have no excuse to not address this issue when it should be among the top priorities for everyone's quality of life gameplay.

    EDIT : Forgot to mention, a skeleton ship spawned on me as well DURING the redmaw fight, the only way i sunk that was from the redmaw blasting it full of holes for me

  • @ghostfire1981 that's what I'm saying - it's an intentional decision not to fix the horrible game design, and if it's a known thing throughout the community then it's a common enough occurrence to be an obvious issue for the developers that still isn't being addressed. rare said they were cutting the encounter rates by 50% a long time ago but that still doesn't change the issue of spawning during a fight with someone/something else.

    Here we go. If your one, I suggest you file for employment to work with Rare so you can help them address these "issues"

    Yeah but those are not as fun when it happens "randomly" or unexpected.

    As a Solo, I guess your on a Sloop, meaning..That Meg. By design (unless they changed it last patch?) Wont attack you..unless you attack first.
    You also have a Harpoon. That auto drops all loot on your ship. You can continue to harpoon and ignore the big shark. Very easy...barely an inconvenience.

    Learning Curve that happens not all the time and may happen every so often. Would you prefer a player ship did the attacking?

    That sounds better experience than nothing happening. What is the issue here? Seems to have worked in your favor.

    This is the saddest deflection post I've seen. You're just white-knighting. Accept the fact Sea of Thieves and Rare aren't perfect and while I don't agree with all TC's ideas I'm at least willing to give the benefit of the doubt.
