Hello,
I’m a relatively new player of Sea of Thieves, and I’d like to share feedback on two key areas that could significantly improve the game’s accessibility and player experience.
- Mouse Sensitivity Scaling (Focal Length Sensitivity)
Currently, the mouse sensitivity settings feel inconsistent—especially when aiming down sights.
I strongly recommend implementing focal length sensitivity scaling (also known as Monitor Distance 0% or Zoom Ratio in other games). This is a well‑established method that adjusts mouse sensitivity based on the field of view (FOV) or zoom level.
How it works:
When you aim down sights (narrower FOV), the sensitivity automatically scales down.
This ensures that the pixel-to-mouse movement ratio stays consistent across different zoom levels.
As a result, players can maintain muscle memory for flick shots and tracking, regardless of magnification.
Why it matters:
Games like Rainbow Six Siege (which added this feature in a later update) and many modern shooters use this system.
It’s a quality‑of‑life improvement that benefits both new players (easier to aim) and veterans (more precision).
Without it, players must manually adjust sensitivity or struggle with inconsistent controls.
- Hold‑to‑Sprint Option
Additionally, I’d love to see a hold‑to‑sprint toggle in the controls menu. Many players prefer this over the default toggle sprint because:
It reduces accidental sprinting.
It offers finer control during tense moments (e.g., boarding enemy ships).
It’s a standard accessibility option in most modern games.
Summary
Implementing these two features would:
Make aiming more intuitive and fair.
Improve accessibility for players with different skill levels.
Align Sea of Thieves with contemporary UX standards in multiplayer games.
Thank you for considering this feedback! I’m excited to see how the game continues to evolve.
Best regards,
