Increase Spawn Rate of Skeleton Ships

  • As of season 18 I have been relentlessly attacked by emergent skeleton ships, it really feels like the spawn rate of them has increased drastically since the start of this new season, anyone else feeling this or am i just extremely unlucky to have one after another, i swear I have been attacked by 10 different ones in the span of 5 hours, not including ones just floating around

  • Didn’t they say they reduced mob spawns by half?
Hmmm. Bug maybe or mishap on decreasing over increasing.
Also. When you say “spawn” do you mean they raised from the depths next to you while sailing or they just sailing around And happen to approach you while your doing stuff.

My other question. If a player ship did this. Would you also be ok with that or be just as upset. Which would be worse?

They spawn a lot around the Smuggler's Route, previous season between Smuggler's and Crescent (which would attack you even when you're at Sanctuary), this Season the Route is in the Roar.
So if you encountered the relentless skelly ships there, it's on purpose.

  • @burnbacon Not really upset just something more i noticed that they have rised up more out of the water next to me, I would much rather fight other player ships lol i remember them saying they decreased it which is why I am confused

  • @lem0n-curry Yeah i do know that, but i was no where near it when it kept happening lol

  • Smuggler routes need to be removed from the game. They add nothing but tedious gameplay. The respawn rate of them is way to fast. They aggro from further out. The route in the roar they seem to hang out more in the northern part of the route but that means when molten sands fortress event happens next month we are going to be under relentless assaults from skeleton ships and players alike. And assuming the volcano will still be active we will have to deal with that too. That being said the back to back spawns my crew had while doing our voyages of luck were more near galleons grave.

Skeleton ships are sapping the fun out of the game for me for sure. The fact an anticheat update apparently doesn't like my trackball software also ruining my experience because it's also impacting mouse functionality in windows itself. Been playing this game since it came out and never has the game been trying to force me to fully quit than now. I don't even do hourglass or PvP I can't imagine Elecom mouse software being exploitative. I use it to swap the trackballs defaulted middle and right click buttons to what makes more sense to me. I don't even know if it has functionality like Logitech and Razer software allows straight up exploitative macroing.

They had said in the podcast they knew people weren't happy with the skeleton ship changes yet they made them even worse. At least normal skeleton ships still don't spawn when the skeleton fleet event is active... Sadly however smugglers ships do still spawn, though at least those ones have the smugglers kegs to set off.

@BurnBacon Apparently their statement is 100% accurate? Or not. I am not gonna hourglass to find out. But the exact claim was they reduced the chances of emergent threats for people active in the hourglass system. Because apparently the increased PvE spawn was impacting hourglass battles so while they have a longer grace period for hourglass players the grace period for normal ships outside hourglass was drastically reduced... It seems to be a mix. Had a few long periods without spawns and a short period with far too many spawns. Then trying to sail around Islands in northern Devils Roar to find some ashen guardians and it was too close to the smugglers route so within 15 minutes had to fight off 3 ships.

OOH Yeah that all true, it will create such chaos, eventful fun and not a simple PvP event, we will have a PvPvE gameplay here.
I wasnt excited for this second half but this makes it better. Sorry, but this game needs every known threat to happen, not just players.

Skeleton ships are sapping the fun out of the game for me for sure.

So you want, Players to do most of the damage while you play as well? or just wanna sail around with nothing to be a threat?

Been playing this game since it came out and never has the game been trying to force me to fully quit than now.

Explain more in detail, what parts of the game are forcing you to quit? and not maybe take a break? Which is healthy to do. Sometimes you play to much and minor things cause you problems when they shouldnt.

They had said in the podcast they knew people weren't happy with the skeleton ship changes yet they made them even worse.

They reduced the likely hood skeletons will Have those black kegs, Not spawn on you when in fights against other players. That pretty much all they did. Skeleton ships, Im sorry NEED to be bigger part of the games threat levels. Im more tired of having nothing threaten me when playing. They nerf Kraken down to never appearing, Meg fights take little to no time to defeat and Skeleton ships are a sailing suicide bomber when they had those kegs. Players, well they are either active, run away from fights or "Cheaters"

I prefer my games to be more like Arc Raiders. NPC are the main threat and should, while players choose to be part of it as well or also fight along size fellow pirates. That is basically the story of SOT so far... Skeletons/Phantoms/FlameHeart/Brethern/Now Ancients? But with Rare deciding to make a 3 strike rule (sinking player ships in short periods) forcing players off servers...because kids dont like conflict. Idk...what do these kids want for this game? Just a sailing simulator with Loot to collect and minor issues? OR a big great pirate adventure game where skeletons rule the sea.

Today i had multiple times where i got a skeleton ship spawn on me, and after defeating it while the sinking animation is still going, the next one already spawned on me. The craziest one was where 2 spawned on me at the same time ánd a meg 2 seconds later.... All of that was outside the roar (and no, it wasn't the fleet event, since a skeleton fort was up somewhere far away)

Seems like there might be a bug with the enemy spawns, since i have never seen this happen before and today multiple times.

That seems like a game issue indeed, I think you should submit a support ticket.
Today I have encountered two skloops, but spread along my session.

In Insider I brought up that too much was going on in the Roar this Season, they should have put the Smuggler route in the Wilds or Ancient Isles and put it in the Roar next Season.

  • @desi-da-wulf yes for me too. Constant spawing of skelly ships

  • I had a Smuggler Sloop spawn immediately after sinking a regular emergent sloop.
    Its a bit wonky.

Easy loot and black kegs but feels broke.

  • @burnbacon Having a rare occurrence of PvE events spawning on you while other players are also engaged with you adds some fun variety to they game. The frequency however ruins the game. I wasn't saying remove skeleton ships from the game altogether. The routes of skeleton ships are there to add a threat and go with this theme of the PvE side of the game trying to intercept your cargo run. That sounds great on paper, the reality is it's just tedious. The fact the grace period after actually sinking the ship is very low. The aggro radius is also insane. So perhaps if you actually try to complete this molten sands event that's coming you will see how annoying these ship spawns are.

Keep the roaming ships, calm it down on emergent spawning ships, make normal skeleton ships and smuggler skeleton ships follow the same respawn rule and grace period out in the world. 3+ spawns in less than an hour is ridiculous. Smuggler ships breaking the rules and spawning despite skeleton fleet world event being active is annoying. I loved taking advantage of the skeleton fleet event to be able to sail around kraken and skeleton ship free. Then kraken was removed from world event rotation ,to be fair it never should have been in that rotation in the 1st place so... fine but kinda late after like 8 years but at least now kraken can't make world event rotation stuck because kraken gets broken by patches so often then never spawns thus never allowing the rotation to move on. I liked logging in and knowing how the game worked and what to expect from my play sessions given stuff I observed in the world. So making all the changes that impact that 9+ years of knowledge kinda stinks especially when the change didn't add anything fun or beneficial to the game.

  • I can say, I sailed Devils Roar for over 3 hours doing these tiny new content things.

Noticing that large Skeleton ship sailing around, never once bolted toward me even if I was close to the travel path.

Not a single skeleton ship emerged from the depths to attack me, or multiple ones just sailing up on me.

I was quiet disappointed really, only attacking ship was me parked at a new Tomb and galleon rolled up, crashed and preceded to sink as all 4 crewmates tried to attack me....That new trident is fun :P

BUT of course, all this could be First week Bugs with new content, typical thing that players always feel surprised about.

  • Any slight criticism about over tuned mechanics being deflected is so tiring for this fanbase.

I love the random times a skele ship dives back under the water even though it engaged with me first.

  • @desi-da-wulf

You're not joking lol. Yesterday a skeleton galleon got super-curious-close, aggro'd on us, so we boarded and blew it up. Seconds after sinking it, we get skelly-shipped. Fun times lol.

  • @europa4033 yeah we played yesterday and I can definetly confirm it wasnt a fluke the first day we played we got skellied 4 times within an hour something is definetly wonky lol i wonder if the smuggler varients are considered a different type of encounter so thats why it feels so crazy with the spawns, regardless its a bit insane considering we have only seen like 3 megalodons since the start of the season vs the 20+ skeleton emergents we have gotten so far over the past 2 days

  • Same. Got skellied a lot yesterday and the day before. Even got triple-skelly-slooped at one point (first sloop popped up, second sloop popped up two minutes later while fighting the first, third sloop aggroed from a not-so-nearby island that should have been out of range). And I wasn't even in the Roar then.
