Fort of Fortune Spawn Rate Season 18.

  • I have been playing 4 hours straight and have not seen 1 FOF since the update today!

And I wasn't exclusively diving. In 1 server I played through a regular fort, a reaper fort and an Ashen Lord and still the FoF wouldn't come out. Making it Rare is 1 thing but I was 2 Chests of Fortune away from getting Grade III for the shipset before going to bed the day before the update and now we have this.

Who thought diminishing the spawn rate to this extent was a good idea? I am this close to just pressing the uninstall button. FOUR HOURS - Give us a break.

  • Fort of fortune has always been rare compared to normal forts. Reaper forts temporarily messed that all up, but the key there is "temporarily."

4 hours is nothing in the scheme of things.

  • @strangeness 4 hours is a lot, I've been waiting 7 years to see a Shrouded Ghost. You think I want to wait 2 years to see a Fort of Fortune? Utter nonsense. Going back to the Roar is the troll of the decade since nobody in his right mind was questing over there, except for the newbies that think influencers are serious when they say everybody loves to voyage there because you don't get disturbed when the reality is you can't even finish a gold hoarder vault quest without your ship sinking while doing itm but at least let us have Chests of Fortune.

  • Did I misread the patch notes? It said the chest of fortune this season is in normal old boring skeleton forts with the bad loot? I think because molten sands fort is a normal old boring fort but the loots getting boosted so when it activates next month then the chest can spawn in there too? I don't know... I am confused. Cause if they are spawning in normal old dull forts I certainly wont be touching them. All I need is Athena and Hunters call loot then the CoF sells but last season got me caught up so I can afford to get behind again and hopefully the madness of adding more ranks will end soon.

https://www.seaofthieves.com/release-notes It says it's only in the Fort of Fortune.

  • @sollimino I went and read it before making my post and it 100% said emergent skeleton forts. So I guess a mistake which has now been corrected.

  • Sounds like the World Events were rotating as per normal. No repetition. You saw 3 different events out of the ones available. Not evidence of rarity,

  • Utter nonsense

True. But last season you couldn’t go a day without seeing 10 of them and that was boring. With a chance of getting 3 CoF

Glad they reduced it. Some of us enjoy the other WE

  • @burnbacon Agreed on the frequency bit but it just adds to the argument that with the sheer number of chests of fortunes a newer player would need to catch up the other commendations don't fall in line with how many times to complete vs turning in chests of fortune. For example do 50 Fort of the Damned. Well that's not even 2 full tiers for the commendation. No one should be expected to do 300 Fort of Fortunes. I am very glad I held out on farming those chests until last season. Being able to get the commendation done so efficiently was amazing, though at the same time doing that many of the new forts god old fairly fast. Especially with the skeleton ship spawn rate near Keel Haul fort had me never doing that one. It was actually kind of nice in the roar last season as it seemed there weren't any roaming ships at all. Now we have a trade route in the roar to harass us while trying to do this new content. As if dealing with volcanoes wasn't enough. Though the islands do seem a bit more relaxed. But making the CoF available from all world events would mean no matter what content you wanted to do you would be able to progress.

I've only played for about an hour though and questioning this new ancient meg like emergent event but without the ability to see where it has spawned. I checked 3 large islands in the roar and saw nothing. With no emissary and no way to track these and knowing they can literally be on any large island in the game... Do they despawn? Are the islands fixed when the server is created so it will only bounce between 3 or 4 potential locations? Or is it purely random? Stuff only the Developers know and we will have to observe for ourselves. Skeleton ships seem to be random now too between being smuggler or normal. Both aren't worth the time but at least smuggler ones can be sunk fast with the kegs. Normal ones how ever are a snooze fest. And neither has loot worth collecting outside of the supply crates. Which by the way why haven't we updated what can spawn in supply crates? These crates stock me up in my sessions so I rarely check barrels any more and the shipwright throwable pack doesn't include bone callers so getting cursed balls and bone callers is extremely rare. Didn't they say they had a whole team dedicated to Quality of Life improvements? We haven't seen any work from that team yet?

  • Why doesn't this specific season cater to my unique individual needs? Damn its like the devs refuse to appease every single player individually, that or some weird level of entitlement. People been sat on comms unable to progress for months or years..

  • @sollimino

I logged on yesterday, sailed around a bit, dove to a new server and right away there was a FoF. I know they're not as common as the world fleet, perhaps you just got unlucky.

  • @sollimino Dude.

You're talking about 4 hours and trying to compare that to 7 years. The two aren't in the same realm. You lose all credibility with this. Yes, forts of fortune are slightly more rare. But not shrouded ghost rare. In fact, given how the burning blade hits server performance and they've merged it's chances it has been more rare than fort of fortune.

You're overreacting and want the game to cater to your personal needs instead of a balanced rotaiton that let's players at different stages of their journey go after organic events as they pop. It's honestly slightly ridiculous.

  • @strangeness

It would be absolute crazy to buy a product and expect it to cater somewhat to my needs. What was I even thinking? I must be mad!

@Magus104 No worries, I just checked the article and provided the link out of courtesy. I don't understand why Rare are cheapskates when it comes to the Chest of Fortune anyway. Let it spawn in the Ford of the Damned, Reaper Forts and Fort of Fortune. With the PVP/PVE environment you're bound to have a fight for it anyway, you'll just have more access to a certain chest/commendations/etc. which is good cause we're players with lives outside of the game.

I always thought Rare were professional trollers in regards with having to do tall tales 5 times, do certain things 180 times just because Rare thinks it's a good idea.
I've never understood the hype from influencers anyway when it comes to the Devil's Roar that newbies could quest over there in relative peace with all the volcano's, earthquakes, boiling water. That area is just too tedious for me and because of it I regard anyone recommending anything in regards to the Devil's Roar, a troll.
Season 18 won't have anything for me with having to collect 30 chests of the purple ancients I'm afraid.
