I had a Gally I never sail with a name variant of Rum Runner. I dismantled it expecting to move an already approved name on a previous ship over to a new Sloop. Nope. The name I had on one ship is apparently no longer allowed. I get there's a Rum Runner Isle, but this is ridiculous. A name I already had approved can't be used on a new ship because by today's standard it's unsuitable? How do you not allow Rum Runner name variants in a season where you specifically introduced smuggling and where you can actually smuggle rum? You guys are losing it over there. :)

I think it's Microsoft censoring there, some things that may seem weird to be censoring could be Microsoft's fault, not necessarily Rare's.
With that being said, I ran into "George Droyd" more than once, especially with pets. Also some names that are allowed I can't even repeat in forums or the discord because it's censored there. Weird
I'd guess that Rare uses a global 'bad word' list that is shared across games, and they are able to add additional names that might be specific to their game that wouldn't appear in the general list (e.g. 'RareLtd').
The global list probably changes periodically, adding and/or removing words, which is why it might not be consistent and why 'Rum' might be banned one week and fine the next.
They might be able to whitelist specific words, but you'd have to check with support.
