Anyone else wish they would put effort into the holiday events again?
I don't even feel like jumping on for Ghoul and Glory, because it's just a reminder that it's a reskinned Gold and Glory, without any actual rewards or challenges to do. I thought Rare would be doing anything to get players back, but it seems like the only recent effort has been put into the Emporium. For myself and others, the holiday seasonal content Rare used to put out for SoT was some of the best times to play.
Here's to wishing we at least get Grogmany back this year (even though apparently they say it's cancelled), but I won't hold my breath.

That the issue here. Players complain about other stuff and demand, I mean..Demand! they be fixed ASAP. So...they will put more man power in those areas, leaving future events to be less or Reskin events from before. Nothing really special.
Back in the day, they had better teams, all working own sections. But now, it seems they put everything in either two. Game improvements, Season updates/Fixes.
When have they ever added anything special for a holiday event? I guess exaggeration to say they never have but it was early days stuff. I can only think of 4 occasions. 1st gilded voyages... Gave you voyages with guaranteed highest value loot in the game. Ignored for years after much better loot was added. Finally revamped recently but still lacking as there's no gilded hunters call voyage and likely no gilded reaper voyage. Halloween had 2 special updates. Adding the FoTD then later adding Ghost ship voyages to the game.
This Halloween updated happened to fall alongside the new fort rework adding ghost ships to the fort. I remember some silly Ghoul and Glory event I didn't care enough to take part in but was just a reskinned event of stealing or leaving treasures on others ships? Same as the holiday event where they added the gifts and half the event was having other crews sell gifts you found and a table at reapers outpost to leave the gifts for people like it was xmas morning.
You clearly don't watch their podcasts because they already answered... Gorgmany was a lame event and they have no plans to bring it back this year. Clearly I don't like that even so that's a mix of my opinion and the Devs statement "nothing this year" just like I imagine the annoying Orb on twitch for xmas wont be back either. Though they already gave me an obsidian capstan for gifting 3 subs to a streamer when I would have easily paid rare 5x that price to just straight up buy the item.... Odd choice on their part.
Reaper Fortresses have been full of action so there is no dearth of gameplay available. Wouldn't call it sad.
Would be nice if they just coloured sea fortresses orange or something - but then folk would complain about lazy reskin or what is the lore reason for said change?

The cake hunt they had earlier in the year was nice. Similar hunt but with pumpkins to give a themed cosmetic would be a non-intrusive addition.Last year for Ghoul and Glory they gave everyone a bucket. This year they give us nothing. Last year grogmanay was cancelled, and on the heist live stream a few weeks ago Mike Chapman said that grogmanay is not coming back in 2025. They do not care aside from emporium items. They add jack o looter and skeleton pets to the emporium for halloween and krampus stuff for christmas.
December 2024 was my first month back after a 4 year long break from SoT. I wanted to participate in grogmanay, it would be the first one I would have had a chance to join. December turned to january, turned to Season 15. No grogmanay. This game wants players to be retained but then they do nothing for people who actually take the time to participate in the stuff they add. I have played SoT almost every single day since December 2024. I have gotten both PvP curses, and am nearly half way to golden bones. I have over 70% completion of the game. I was looking forward to events and fun little things from them, but unless I want to spend real money, I can get stuffed.

You're joking right? Last Ghoul & Glory 2024, we at the very least got a bucket to commemorate the "event" and a couple free voyages. We also had a Frosted Present flag and Starburst Drum for Festival of Giving in 2024.
Before that we had Ghoul and Glory 2023 that gave the rapier of the damned. Gifts and Glory 2023, Precious Present flag and multiple quests. tbh we had quests given with the other events as well.
Tricksters and Treats 2022: two different hats and a title were earnable doing to challenges. Grogmany tankard and flags for the four years they did it. Fury of the Damned 2021 had multiple rewards, like figureheads, titles, blunderbuss, cannons, etc. Feast of Bounty, a Thanksgiving timed event in 2021: We received tattoo, scar, makeup, and title for completing challenges. Festival of Giving 2021: loads of rewards again. Even though I sat here and needlessly typed out to you some of the rewards from previous holiday events, I did not cover them all, but when you ask when have they ever added anything special for holiday events, I assume you're trolling.You clearly don't watch their podcasts because they already answered... I do watch the podcasts, but you're clearly just rude. Apologies if I missed him say something in a 30 minute long podcast, crazy that you're that rude and snobby about it.
Also, myself and many others loved Grogmany, so although you might think it's lame, you don't speak for everyone or even the majority. It was fun doing to challenges to complete Grogmany and getting a few notches on my tankard. It's crazy that we as players can't be upset at the lack of trying lately pertaining to the holiday events. With the lack of content coming out, I would think surely they had a little time to give players even something for events, like Ghoul and Glory. I specifically talked about Ghoul and Glory not having any actual rewards, challenges, etc. They could of at the very least given us a free voyage or a login cosmetic like normal. It just seems weird to have an "event" during Halloween, and literally do nothing but reskin a Gold and Glory. They know the community has been asking for a return of Fury of the Damned or Tricksters and Treats, but nothing is being done, so we have a right to be bummed.
