Thats wild one but we live in wild times.
I was think ing why I have such hard time to get back into game that gameplay loop I enjoy so much. So thats conclusion I came with:
So back in year one reason we do stuff is getting gold and rep.
I was geting it to get cosmetic so I can show off my piratish pirate.
Engagment, emotions and "moments" came with it but they was itense as their was becouse there was gold on stake.
I play, get rep get gold, buy stuff and then ... then we run off gold stuff so I took a breake, thane come one and only bigger drop of goldshop (all that in pre-season times).
I play to get legend, cruses etc but becouse of lack of need to earen gold stakes feeled lesser, emotions drop down and gold inflate.
With gold as stake I was engaging enything that was to do couse rewards was allways somehat rewarding
Now when my ship, pirate looks like I wanted to and there is nothing new to earn when I play I feel simillar to playing poker on matches its nice but not mearly same engagment level
I think that whole commendations was bandaid solution for above, but becouse Rare clound not deliver ebough cosmietics (in cosmetic driven game...) it evolved in main wain to obtain that few sets / items left to get.
Then they tried disticions for ssme bandaid and floped.
Now Wild part:
So what can Rare do?
Add voloutary gold reset for [instert some type of cosmetic] that opens new shop full of properly priced priatish cosmetics?
Stop gold shop drip feed of recolors? And flood shop with high and medium priced items?
Or players like me must move one and hop in when some inntersting mechanic, new stuff comes in (not likley when we look for this and next season).
