New Sea of Thieves Game Features that may be enjoyable if implemented & adjusted even though they'd take awhile.

  • 1: The ability to allow Players the capability of hiring Npc Pirates from Taverns at various islands which then can help players on their ship as they Sail & on islands as they do quests or look for loot; Non-Affiliated Faction Npc(s) take more Gold Coins to hire than an Npc associated with a faction you're part of at the time like the “Order of Souls” & take a bigger portion of earned Gold from Sold items than a Hired Affiliated Pirate due to being more greedy.

How this would work is that by talking to them a Player can give commands to the Hired Affiliated or Non-Affiliated Pirate that depend if you're Land & Sea then if a Player’s on Land a Player can give commands to look either nearby or far away from Us for Loot like food, planks & other types of Loot able to be taken from barrels along with on the ground & being able to show them your Map to help search for Chests similar to the “Order of Bone & Blade Skeletons; Or if on the Ship a Player can command the Hired Affiliated or Non-Affiliated Pirate to be assigned towards either the Sails or Cannons & can also repair the Ship if Damaged. The amount able to be Hired depends on the Type of Ship’s available Areas a Hired Npc can be assigned by it's captain hence even a Sloop can hire many & then once at an island you can command some to follow you.

Add a new detection feature so that any Player Ship can't hire Npc Pirates if it exceeds the amount the system detects of Players in a Crew that would logically be able to take up any available Areas a Hired Npc Pirate can be assigned on a ship & hence limiting it so no ship can become too powerful be it larger ships or smaller ships; if a Player's friend wishes to join or a random person the Captain get a notification to dismiss the Hired Pirate Npc & also make it so those Hired Pirate Npc can revive similar to a Player until the Player dismisses those Npc as Crew Member be it revived mid-battle or from the afterlife in Davy Jones ship.

The Reason why I think this would be appreciated is it would allow Players either who prefer to play with their Friends or Solo to Hire Missing Crew Members, of course this also works for filling in Missing Crew Members on any Ship that has any even Strangers & the Main Reason is this would help Players by evening out the odds against Ghosts Ships along with Skeleton Ships & Player Ships or Megalodon or Kraken should it be a Crew of Strangers with Missing Crew Members or Players who prefer friends or to Solo - it also helps making the Islands seem more alive than just Players & scattered NPC maybe add wandering Npc on Islands walking too rather than just those for hire in Taverns.

2: The Ability for Islands with Cannons that are Outpost or Ports with shops like “Port Merrick” to have NPC which fire at Enemies too close to an Outpost/Port due to the fact Enemy NPC don't always disappear when nearby & those Islands seem unlikely to want enemies at them due to them being important, hence it adds onto the fact of making Islands seem more alive & also helps Players if trying to Dock to sell, buy, find items like food, wait out a storm, etc.

3: Since we have Safer Seas now as a Mode for Players make it so Safer Seas are Single Player Game Worlds that don't rely on Wifi by making it like an actual Single Player Game World & instead are only relying on Wifi in Safer Seas Worlds for stuff such as saving progress, Seasonal Events Collection Rewards or if playing with Friends in your Safer Seas World; hence possibly getting rid of wifi issues & glitches caused by them during Solo.

Adding onto that add in Safer Seas Worlds the ability in a new Game Setting known as “Sea Enemy Spawn Rate” that allows Players to change various Individual Enemy Spawn Rates by adding one for Ghost Ships, Skeleton Ships, Megalodon, etc, for Enemies that Spawn on the Sea & allow us to Change it from Normal to Low & High for each enemy we wish to encourage either more often for a harder time or less than we already do for an even easier time.

4: Make it so that way Players while holding their Lantern can use the Item Radial to hook it to their hip allowing Players to still be able to see in dark areas & also fight while also making it so the D-Pad if on console or it's counter part on PC is used to turn off/on the Lanterns Light & it's opposite side is used to detach it from the Player's hips if needed to gather anything like “Flame of Fate” or used to detect/trigger anything on an island via holding it up & increasing it's brightness.

    — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

5: Let Players who are High Ranking in Factions have the ability to hire limited amount of Lower Rank Npc Pirates to send to Islands to complete Faction Quest for the Players & with there being chances they can encounter the same enemies on the Sea & Islands that we as Players could encounter; adding onto this it would also show those Npc on the Map like it would for Players of Factions & adds risks towards Player who hired those Pirate Npc by allowing them to be attacked via Enemy NPC or Players costing them money & those Quests given to the Hired Pirate Npcs.

    — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

All of these add to making the Islands & Sea feel more immersive along with alive.

That's all I feel should be added to the game & would be enjoyable by making it so Players never lack a Crew should they want one along with making the Islands feel slightly more alive by doing the 1st & 2nd New Game Features. I know it's supposed to be a bit rare for anyone to make it to the Sea Players are within & hence why even I'd be surprised if they'd be implemented even after adjusting these.

  • The ability to allow Players the capability of hiring Npc Pirates from Taverns at various islands which then can help players on their ship as they Sail & on islands as they do quests or look for loot

Reapers bone chests. Free and easy to find, we already have them.

The Ability for Islands with Cannons that are Outpost or Ports with shops like “Port Merrick” to have NPC which fire at Enemies too close to an Outpost/Port

So just npc enemies or players?

Make it so that way Players while holding their Lantern can use the Item Radial to hook it to their hip allowing Players to still be able to see in dark areas

Just adjust brightness and you never have to worry about the dark. Unless you mean for the skeleton phantoms with colors. Than No

Let Players who are High Ranking in Factions have the ability to hire limited amount of Lower Rank Npc Pirates to send to Islands to complete Faction Quest for the Players

Might as well not even play right?

  • You want this to be a different game that just looks and feels like SoT. Even the first thing you suggested alone is against the entire point of the game, which is that the only thing differentiating us is skill level. Tools, not rules.

    1. That makes some places well defended from PvE and some places very poorly defended. People would also take advantage of it to AFK farm, you know this.

    2. Literally not possible for most PCs and for all consoles. You would have to host the ENTIRE server on your own PC. Your PC almost assuredly cannot handle a full server load. My PC has 128gb of RAM and basically a xeon for a CPU and I doubt I have enough. The 125gb the game is right now is only the client side of it. The game would have to at least double in size to add the server side elements as well.

    3. There is rarely a time when you need to trade off between your lantern and something else. I don't see it being a useful enough thing to warrant adding to the game. They did add trinket angling though, so they do add useless things.

    4. What? SoT is not a game where you command an army or are a leader of anyone. Even on your own ship, a captain has the same vote as any other crewmate. What risk does it add to send an NPC to an island? Honestly, it sounds like you want the things the game gives you for playing it but you want to find creative ways to not have to play it. Hire an NPC to go to an island to get treasure for you? Have an NPC on your ship who can shoot cannons, repair holes, bucket, and revive you? Why not just have a feature where you can turn your player pirate into an NPC with NPC mode where you just let it play the game on its own while you watch?

  • @arlo-azera

Perfect. So instead of me meeting, befriending and having fun with other players or doing voyages, I simply sit back, do nothing, and let a hired skeleton do everything. Heck I don't even have to play at that point. The hired help will do everything for me.
