I have been playing for years and I originally thought this game was ahead of it's time but now the game feels like it's on course to be a forgotten game that someday won't be able to fill a whole world with 16 players and this is more of a wishlist but here's my 2 cents list on things I think would save the game.
-
Titled Servers
A list of different servers to join that people can see how many players are currently in so you can easily choose the same world as your buddies on different ships and maybe see what world events are in each -
Improved Open Crew Matchmaking
When joining open crew the game should prioritize adding you to crews currently in combat, then on voyage, then at sea, then new crew. I'm tired of only having a 2 man galleon fighting with no one joining -
Easier Reporting
Cheaters are ruining the game and if I can't even see someone who kills me it's hard to report them and there's too many hurdles. When reporting I'd like to see what names killed and sunk me and hit report for cheating and end of story. -
REAL Ship Customization and Yes, Progression
I can't take it anymore that it takes hours sometimes to finish fights and quests and in the end it's just for some hats or sails. I know they're worried about the game becoming unfair but I'm thinking about some trade-offs on ships like adding more cannons but being heavier thus reducing speed and increasing sinking rate. There's a lot more you could do than that for progression but I just need something more to work towards. Also possibly you could get more marks or flags on your ship for each crew you've sunk. -
New Fortress
I had this idea that instead of forts and fortresses just being pve there could be a special fortress for crews to be able to fight over and claim like a base and fight off other crews with land cannons. Ideally this would be with more than 16 players and I haven't worked out what kind of rewards you get but I think a team style large battle would be really fun (think curse of the black pearl when Barbados attacked the colony towards the beginning). -
More Depth
All of my favorite games like Red Dead redemption that really are set apart from the rest have so many hidden things to do and Easter eggs to find that it really shows how above and beyond the game is. SOT isn't bad at this like with glitterbeard but I'd really enjoy more interactive things than books to read and a special lantern in the water or characters that stand on a beach all day.
