More Sword swinging animations?

  • I know most First-Person games have pretty awful melee combat. It comes with the territory.

I'd still like some additions to the sword-swinging in this game, just to spice up the visual monotony at the very least. I don't mind the inherent weakness of being a Sword-Slinging-Swashbuckler in a game where everyone's cracked out of their mind with the Eye of Reach, or blowing me apart with the Blunderbuss. But the real weakness of the sword is the lack of swag when swinging it. When I'm beating the bones of Red Ruth from behind, it'd be nice to mix it up a bit, ya know?

  • I could get behind this, though I imagine keeping timing in check could be a pain, but I'm also not an animator. It would be neat if they had say 3 combo animations, 3 heavy animations, and 3 block animations and it just did RNG on which animation set it goes for each time we do said actions. No actual mechanical or timing difference in them, but a little more visual distinction to the swashbuckling side of things could be nice I agree.

  • Yeah, I get your point. Melee in SoT is pretty bad to be honest, I just got used to it.

  • They need to have a system that shows when you need to swing the sword better. No one is clicking 3 times to do a 3 swing combo, you just spam the attack button to get the combo to pop. The word needs some sort of system, whether UI or animation, that makes it a lot more obvious when you can click again to do another swing. Same with the shovel. I just end up spam clicking it to make it work faster.
